My wife wanted some cupcakes with fancy icing on them for a little birthday party I put on for her, so she handed me a recipe...
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 1/2 cups sifted icing sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2-4 tbsp milk
Beat the butter, sugar, and vanilla until they come together, and add enough milk until you get a smooth, spreadable consitency. Add food colouring if desired.
