you people,

I have a 140 Reed and Barton humidor (I highly recommend the Elite Gift Set, best high quality humidor deal anywhere) on order, expected to come anyday. After a length curing process, I will need to stock the humidor to as full a level as I can afford, so, I'm taking recommendations both for cigar types and for vendors for these cigars (although, I'll probably buy most, or all, of them at the local B&M).

I'm a big fan of spicy, full flavored cigars, my favorite cigars include (in some sort of an order): Ashton VSG Sorcerer, Padron 1926, 1964, Opus (haven't tried a lot of the sizes of the previous three so it's open ended, but I typically like a Sorcerer sized cigar - 7in x 49 gauge), Ashton Aged Maduro, CAO Brazilia Samba, Camancho Rare Coroju, etc.

Any recommendations on how I should fill this cigar (full boxes, singles, 5-packs, the most economical, highest varietal possibly)? I don't really like to order online because I don't know how to use the internet, but if there's a screaming deal I can get my internet monkey, Yanusz, to buy them for me (if only he had his own line of credit, right?).

Cheerio,
peter

CI often has deals for specific "styles" of cigars.
Other than that, you might find that cigars of that size will fill your humi very quicky, and full boxes might not be to your advantage, becasue though it can be the most economical way to fill a humi, if you find that you do not like the cigar, you are using a great deal of space to store them.
I'd go with 5-packs, plus singles of the really pricey stuff.

La Flor Deominicana Double Ligero - Full Bodied
Carlos Torano Virtuosos - Medium Bodied
Cuesta-Rey centenario - Medium
Tatuaje - Medium Bodied (These have a cult like following here, there that damn good.)

The first 3 you can pick up off cigar bid for fair prices and 5ers if you want to try them first.

If you are going to buy boxes definitely learn to use the internet, it's way cheaper. Try some Tatuaje's if you can find them locally.

I'd just like to add that samplers and 5 & 10 packs from c-bid are a great way to fill your humidor, however 6 months or a year from now you might find yourself with 30 or 40 cigars that you don't really care to smoke anymore, or just don't interest you.

Not that it's happened to me or anything...

Well I guess it depends how much money you have really. If you can afford to stock it with 64s and 26s then do it!If you are like me and many others on this forum then I would suggest a box of padron 3000 maduros and any of the La Flor Dominicanas, the Lito Gomez is pretty tasty, and people wont stop talking about the damn Tats. I cant seem to get my hands on them though. Good luck to you, it sounds like they are right up your ally. Hope this helps a bit. Have fun filling that baby up. :D

Anything other than late 80's Davidoffs and Dunhills are crap. Get a second job, then search them out.

Might want to check out some....

LG Diez Puro Chisel (I cannot say enough good things about these)
LFD Limitado II
LFD Oscuro Cabinet
AF CF Cuban Belicoso
Ashton VSG (Any)
DC Maximus
Rocky Patel Sungrown Torp.

Good luck filling your humidor. You will probaly be buying another in a few months once this one is full.

Speaking of online dealers, which ones do you use? I've never used an online dealer, but I might consider it once I can trust my internet monkey with my credit card numbers again (you wouldn't believe how many banana accessories a resourceful monkey can order off of amazon.com). Are all the ones mentioned on cigarcyclopedia.com's comparision shopper list reputable? Any bad dealings, improperly kept cigars, beetles, etc from any of them?

Don't know how to use the internet, but perfectly capable of posting to an online forum? ???

I was thinking the same thing!! :p

My father says the same thing, he is fine but hates to buy online. I think he is worried about identity theft.

I am very green, but if you are going to "stock" by buying boxes, online was way better than the B & M's near my area. I do enjoy talking with them, and will buy a few singles. If I ever end up buying a box, I would definitely go online.

Matt, I fear his palatte will not be refined enough to truly appreciate a late 80's Davidoff... I'm sure he'll like the Dunhill, but the Davidoff might be a little underwhelming at this point... :whistling:

He might, however, like a Boli Gold Medal with a coupla years of age on it... ;)

PLASENCIA TKO is a great little (4" X 42) full bodied spicy every day smoke. You can get a box of 25 for $35 at JR Cigars.

I don't mean to be an a$$...but the Lito Gomez is expensive and the Tats aren't cheap either (and hard to find). I you want to go with a great inexpensive smoke...go with any Padron X000 series or lesser Fuente series. Give me a PM and I'll guide you!! :D

Dont forget the Joyo de Nicaragua Antano cigars. The last couple I've smoked had some nice spice and a hell of a kick. Which is a rare rare rare treat for me to have a cigar with a kick since LFD doesnt do it anymore for me.
