Went to the county Commisioners public meeting tonight and spoke against the pending smoking ordinance, the second proposed in the last two years.
This one would have prohibited smoking in all public buildings and work places including company vehicles with few exceptions.
I spoke against the extra burden placed on me to enforce the law as I am the only employee at my work place (wildlife property) and am off property 70% of the time and already work off property at a second job 20 hours/week. If you get a complaint the business owner has to pay the $100 fine.
Regardless, The outgoing republican made a motion to pass the ordiannce, the second republican said nope, and the third said not in its present form so the ordinance died. The incoming republican is pro business choice and therefore against the ordinance.
Looks like for now the Smoke Free group is spinning its wheels and out of luck for the foreseeable future. Of course I thought that the last time. I understand second hand smoke but if you go to a bar, bowling alley, etc you expect to see smokers. I rarly see smokers in the local restaurants I frequent.
