Baseball season is upon us. Does anyone else besides me like to surf while watching the home team play on Sunday's? O.K., I am a certified Fantasy Sports addict. But I figure like many other people, I catch up on email, check the fantasy stats, maybe read an article or 2 on Sunday. Ladies, do you watch baseball or is your husband the baseball addict? Either way, why not stop in for a chat with the other posters here on the board? I am interested in what others think about this idea. Please respond ya or no, and post why you think this...

Great idea other than being baseball. Unfortunantly I'm not much of a baseball fan until the 5th game of the World Series. Well that's probably not all true, I do watch some playoffs :D I know how defensive baseball fans can be, so I won't mention the comparison to watching paint peel.

If the Tigers are playing I may come by with my 2 cents to support the home team, but other than that...

I'm sure you'll get a good response, it's a great idea. :D

Flag me down if you want to talk NFL, NBA, Golf, and all major college sports. I'm in.

HMMMM....Didin't really mean chat about baseball, more of a way to pass time while the game is slow, or if you are online just because. Seems like this group is pretty tight, just figured that a regular chat would be a normal extention... ;)

aaaahhhh...I read to fast sometimes...I see. I'm always looking to get a cheap shot on baseball, it must of blurred my vision. I see what you mean. :D

We used to have a Thursday evening chat going. It was going pretty good. Maybe we should start it up again...

Actually, first I need to find a really good PHP based chat script, then we can get it going again.

Not much into fantasy sports, but baseball (THE great game) can bring volumes from myself!!!
This is one subject of which I can be VERY opinionated.  Like for instance....what has happened to the pitching of late?  I'll tell you (as did Nolan a coupla years ago, to which I had been preaching about for about 7 years), when I was growing up, when we came home fromm school, ALL we did was play ball.
Whether it be just throwing the ball up and down the street (great arm development) or playing sandlot, we did so from the time we got home till it got dark and someone got bonked in the head.

Now adays, and it's been this way for several years, kids are going home to play Nintendo, Playstation, etc....  Where's the ball and glove?  NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!!!  Absolutely 0 arm development.  :(

I'm 43 and can still throw it 92 mph.  (not for very long anymore)

I believe this is why SO many players are coming from the DR, PR, etc...  Do they have video games to go home to?  No!  They play ball every day after school.  Just like we did many years ago.

OK, I'll get off my soap box.
What do YOU think??

Actually, I tend to disagree with you on only one point. While technology has grasped ahold of kids in some respects, it has given many kids a place to put energy where they had no talent athletically. I am turning 29 in a few months, and I coach my oldest son. But it isn't football, baseball, or basketball. It is soccer. I never relly had a background in soccer, except a little sandlot.
I grew up first playing baseball and basketball. But in highschool I lettered and Captained mens Volleyball 3 years in a row. I was an exceptional athelete that was so-so in every conventional American sport. But I was pretty decent in Volleyball, and put my energy there. I think that holds true now. Plus, coaches put sooo much pressure on kids at a young age in winning the conventional sports, while in soccer, volleyball, swimming, etc, more often, coaches put pressure on the kids in learining fundamentals, not winning. Just my 2 cents as a young guy coaching his son in the game of life.
