I had some Talisker 18 Year Old for the first time yesterday and today and it blew me away. Very Nice.

I'm not a Scotch drinker but may be it's time to change my habits. This was damn good.

P.S. Thank's to Greg aka Kingantz who so generously provided this to me...

I'm such a good influence. :sign:

Damn Greg, starting him out on the good stuff. Nice! This is a favorite of mine, love it.

I did a review of it about 3 years ago. I agree that it is a superlative dram.

I'm on my second bottle of this myself.

Not that anyone needs further verification than an approval from AVB, but the WWA picked this as the best single malt for 2007.

I'm sitting here drinking some of Dad's Glenlivet 18 yr old, and IMO it doesn't hold a candle to the Talisker 18 yr.

I'm new to the world of Scotch and have been reading AVBs reviews and the posts of all the fine BOTLs here concerning this fine libation. I will have to pick up a bottle of this one asap. Also, a big THANK YOU for all the scotch advice found in these pages!

edited because I can't seem to spell worth a damn when I have so much of The Balvenie Double Wood in my system.

Ok I also tried some Glenfiddich 18 yr old, Famous-Grouse 18 yr old(vatted malt) and Macallan 18 yr old over the weekend and Talisker 18 yr old is still my favorite so far.

edit: changed blend to vatted malt

AFAIK, the Famous Grouse 18 is a vatted malt and not a blend.

Now if you're asking yourself "What is a vatted malt?" You now have something to look up and learn.

Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct the Famous Grouse 18 yr old is a "vatted malt" and not a "blend".

So I'm down for my brother's wedding this weekend and tried to find a bottle of the Talisker 18 as I haven't found it locally in my area. I didn't find it but did find some Talisker 10 yr old and decided to try it out. It's interesting how another 8 years of age matters. I could taste hints of the 18 yr old but of course it wasn't the same.

The Talisker 10 yr old beats the aforementioned Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Famous Grouse & Macallan 18 yr old IMO.

Thank's Greg you've turned me into a Talisker 18 ho'......... :( ???

Better than the 18? I can't imagine that. You've piqued my curiosity, sir! I'm going to be on the lookout for Taliskers 10 and 18 next time I'm at the liquor store.

Yes, to me the Talisker 10 yr old was better than these 18 yr old's:

Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Famous Grouse & Macallan.

The Talisker 18 yr old blow's these 18 yr old's away(not even close); again in my opinion. :)

But I'm sure it's like anything else, cigars, etc..... Your likes can be totally diffferent from mine! ;)

After reading this thread last week I decided to buy a bottle of the Talisker 18 yr old. I tried it this weekend with an HdM du Rui and both were excellent. I'm fairly new to drinking Scotch, but so far the Talisker's and Lavagulin 16 yr old have been my favorite. I've also been reading some of AVB's Scotch reviews which have been very helpful.
