The University of Marquette, under pressure for years to ditch the "Golden Eagles" name and return to being The Warriors (minus any Native American references) today made a decision; but instead of choosing one or the other, Marquette will now be known as The Marquette Gold! Really!

I bet when they join the Big East conference next season, the name Gold will bring fear to the hearts of all their compitition. Watch out or we'll drop some gold bars on you!!!

Maybe they should have changed their name to Bling Bling...
 
I think that Syracuse is now known as the "Orange" instead of the "Orangemen" in deference to their female teams.

I'm glad that Rutgers didn't drop the Scarlet Knights nickname when there was pressure to make them sound less prissy.
