While I don't usually brag, well ok, maybe a little. I thought my BOTL's were the ones that would be proud of my fat a**.

Back in July, weighing in at 305lbs, I started to eat right and exercise, mainly running. At that time, I could only run 1/4 mile without stopping for breath. Well, now I'm down to 235lbs, and running about 4 miles every other day.

To the meat and potatoes of the post, Today I ran my first 5k, or 3.1 miles for those that were running stupid like myself. I participated in the Race for the Cure to support Breast Cancer Research. With about 10,000 in attendance, I'm not sure what place I came in, likely around 1,000, but am happy to report that I ran the event in 29:15, or roughly a 9:20 mile.

I think I'm changin my name to LL Cool G. For Ladies Love Cool Gary. :whistling:

Way to go Jet! Congratulations! I'm losing too, but much more gradually. My running days are over, but I can still walk. Keep up the good work!

Congrats, indeed! I need to get my saggin', hairy, middle-aged ass in gear, too. Back in the day, I was a real bicycling nut...to the tune of 300-350 miles a week. But I just couldn't get comfortable running. My resting heartrate was in the low 50s and I could ride all damn day at my target heartrate. If I ran at the same heartrate, though, I felt like I was gonna die. Shin splints, too.

Good stuff man, I need to get my fat arse back in shape.

Maybe when I get back from Iraq.......maybe.

Congrats on the weight loss and improved health. Makes tasting those cigars all the better.

Great accomplishment! What is your target weight? I'm just happy to loose the 7 lbs I gained on the cruise.

Wow, Gary, that's very impressive. It takes a lot of personal discipline to stick with a program like that and you've done great from the sound of it. Kudos, my good man!

Thanks to everyone for the encougagment. As all of you except you anerexic guys know. It is hell losing weight, but damn do I feel good now.

Good Times I'll Never Remember
Great Friends I'll Never Forget
