It turns out that at least until 1995, the tobacco used in the binder and filler of these cigars was harvested in 1984. Apparently, at some point, one person says 1996, they switched to a later tobacco crop, probably 1987.
Anyways could everyone that has the box, whether it still contains Don Carlos cigars or not, check out the year on the front?
There should be a line that says "Cosecha 19xx" where xx=84 or perhaps later.
Also please note as near as possbile when the box was purchased.
