Tobacco ban in Illinois

The Illinois house passed a bill that would overturn the ban on smoking in Casinos, bars and restaurants because of the worsening of the economy and all the surrounding states that allow smoking in the very same establishments. State Senator Dan Burke says that since the imposition of the ban, Illinois has lost $800 milllion dollars to the surrounding states.

In another unrelated article in today's newspaper Neil Steinberg quotes Dr. Gerald Aranha, professor of surgery, on the subject of stomach cancer."The connection between smoking and stomach cancer is weak, a opposed to charred foods and nitrates, which encourage it. Heredity is also an important facror.

Seems to me that the famiy weekend grilling should be discouraged and look out for nitrates.

The bill still has to be passed in the Illinois Senate. :whistling:

Here in OZ we are trying to get the smoking ban and high taxes overturned, all cigar smokers are encouraged to send their local member an email so we can smoke in piece again.

Its about time some legislature pulled thier heads out of their collective rear-ends!

Now if we could only get this to happen in michigan, at least with respect to bars and restaurants! (we already are allowed in casinos)
