Wasn't totally her fault, we'll see how it shakes out w/ the insurance companies, but my 16 yo totaled my 2007 Titan Wedns night, someone sorta pulled out in front of her. She hit the back of this pick up doing 45, hit it square, not a scratch on her . It hit so hard that it pushed the motor into the transmission so hard it severely cracked the transmission housing. Those are some tough vehicles, but i'm gonna drive the wifes Armada and i bought her a Volvo S80, so no more pick up for me for a year or so :( (gonna play farmer in a SUV, kinda weird).

Needless to say the twins are back to driving w/ us in the car, like when they had restricted license, 3 totaled vehicles (2 Titans, 1 Volvo), not a scratch on them, i think i can take a less than subtle hint.

Anyone got a Sherman tank for sale :sign:

Ouch!

So this is what I have to look forward to? My boy is 14 and already starting to talk about driving. He's already hit a tree with the garden tractor. Assuming he lives to 16, I could see this happening to him too.

I have a 16 & 17 year old and both are driving.
Man, it's nerve racking...

Wow, glad to hear she's okay, but sorry about the car.

There's alot of things to be thankful for though, like the fact that you have the sense to pick solid vehicles!

Cheers,
Rob

Glad to hear she is OK Frank...

And my oldest turns 18 (the age a German can get a driving license) in less than two weeks... I can already feel the stomach acid churning.

Glad your girl is unharmed. The autos' safety has increased enormously, but also have the distractions within. It makes me wary to see a teen driving while texting, or playing with an iPod, or even talking on the phone/singing. The ability of a teen to drive without all these distractions is limited already through lack of experience. Gator, I am not remotely implying anything about your situation. My first car had only an AM radio with one speaker and this was before cell phones, so I had no choice but to concentrate solely on driving. Just good to hear your family is safe.

About the tank, you bought a Volvo, that's pretty dammed close!

If extreme measures are to be taken, you can always try this :p

I'm glad you can afford all of this but I don't want to see your insurance bill.

I know I'm new here, but from a law enforcement side of things, I am really happy to hear she is healthy and well. I've been to too many traffic collisions that end in a bad way. How did the officer respond to your daughter? Did he advise who was at fault? That makes a diff. in the insurance game as well... Is she a probationary driver?

I'm out of CA, so I dunno what state you're in or whatever, but anyways, I'm happy to hear she is SAFE. :-)

I'm glad they're not hurt, vehicles can be replaced, they're just 'stuff'. Believe it or not, my insurance hasn't been bad, they've 2 wrecks that has hit insurance was a hit and run, and a no fault due to conditions. The other wreck was an older Volvo, and i didn't have collision on it, so i just drug it off to the junk yard. Now after this last wreck, whick no ticket was written but the officer said that the person she hit was at fault for parking on the road, if not pulling out in front of her and or not having lights on. I'm sure the insurance companies will fight this one out, why the officer didn't issue a citation is beyond me.

As far as all the distractions, music and cell phones are expressly forbidden, i mean expressly. I've written down times they've left then later checked phone records to see if they used their cell then, and so far i haven't busted them yet, but they're teenagers...

Not trying to play blame, but in the state of Tennessee whenever you hit someone in the rear... it's your fault. Hopefully it's different in Florida. Glad she's ok.

I'm guessing when they either pull out in front of you, or are partially parked on the roadway w/ no lights, it's not the one that hit's the rear ends fault
