So I thought I'd be a good hubby and took my wife to some artist market thing in Decatur over the weekend. One guy had a collection of random stuff: stones, badges, knives, political buttons. Anyway I see he's got this big ol' Missouri Meerschaum Macarthur. Used, but in good condition. He says he'll let it go for $20.

"Uh, I'll pass on it, thanks."

I didn't want to push the issue, but now I'm curious to know if he just didn't know any better, or if he figured someone would just buy it for that much.

Either way, I kept walking.

You can get cobs online for 3-10 bucks.

Frenchy's has a good selection of cobs to choose from.

The cob has become my go to pipe. I tend to be rough on my pipes and the cobs take the abuse and are cheap enough to where I will not feel bad if I drop one and break it. Plus they tend not to take on the flavor of whatever you are smoking so you can try different blends in the same pipe without much carry over of flavor.
