Well, my home state of North Carolina has decided to follow other states in passing a ban on smoking in bars and restaurants. This doesn't bother me (in a way) as I don't really care for smelling smoke while I'm trying to eat dinner, but for a state that produces more tobacco than any other state in the U.S., it really doesn't send a good signal to the tobacco farmers in an already depressed area and time. It just seems that we continue spiraling downward as far as our rights go.....

I don't so much mind the banning of smoking in restaurants. What scares me is once they are successful in doing that what is the next step they plan to take? Before you know it you won't even be able to smoke in your own house or backyard because the smoke is getting to the neighbors. IMO, I think the business owners should be able to decide whether or not smoking is allowed in their establishment.

I wish I could say that this surprises me, but anymore it just doesn't. On a side note, I heard the other day that comedian Ron White was charged with lighting up on stage during his act in one of the Dakotas. I'm not particularly a big fan of his comedy, but he sure enjoys cigars which is enough in my book.
