Here in Oz August 18 is known as Long Tan day and is the day that our nation remembers a very famous battle fought by Aussie soldiers during the Vietnam War. Lately it has been generalised (quite rightly I think) to be a tribute to all those who gave their lives and served in the Vietnam War. A lot of the men and women who served in that conflict were treated very badly upon their return home and many have not been adequately recognised by our country (although this is slowly being remedied). I believe it was the same in the US. So to all the Vietnam vets I send out a heartfelt thankyou for your service , I will torch a good one for you all tonight.
