I believe as a legal traveler with a license you have always been able to bring something back. currently it is $100 in rum or cigars per trip. The question is can you bring anything back yet?
I've heard it's something like a $35 fee to leave and no credit cards excepted yet. Also heard that they confiscate any Cuban money at the airport as its illegal to leave with it.I assume this means that they'll accept US passports now...?? Will credit cards now work...??
Before this was all legal and stuff, I had a buddy that went several times, driving into and flying out of Canada. Credit cards didn't work in Cuba, so he had to bring cash with him. Also had to pay to get out; IIRC it was something like $100 USD. Basically bribe your way out of Cuban immigration in the airport. Wonder if that's all above board now....??
Who volunteers to go and find out...??...;-)
