Today was my last day before venturing out to Minneapolis on Monday. A few of my Cigar Puffin Club co-members decided to send me of (one last time) and I met them at JR Whipanny. I was enjoying a nice San Cristobal Punta from 06 when our honorary member. Lew Rothman decided to hangout with us. Mind you I met Lew before but he always just said pleasantries. Today was diffferent (not because it was my last day). One of the members happened to ask if Lew was from Brooklyn like him.

This made Lew sit down and started chatting away about the good old days in Brooklyn. It was amazing to hear him describe his childhood. The time travel took us to different neighborhoods in Brooklyn and from where he watched movies, ate hot dogs and of course Dodger games :)

I happen to ask about the embargo towards the end. This was his take: He thinks that it will end when Castro passes on (no surprise). He thinks that the non cubans will have a tough time making it once cubans are legally available (his words). The most intriguing to me was this statement: He doesn't think supply will be too short of demand. He said that most of the supply will be re-shifted. That is, the guys selling abroad (he specifically mentioned) Australia, Spain, Asia (I guess Honk Kong) and even Geneva will have a tough time selling their inventory because his estimation was that these markets have huge inventories primarily because of the US market to begin with!!!!!

Interesting albeit controversial. I shook his hand and thanked him for letting the Puffins use JR Whippany. He smiled, wished me luck and said to let him know if I spot any wolverines out in Minnesota.

Hah, interesting fellow he is from what I've read. Hope all is well in your new home!
