What might be cool!

Hey, would it be possible/beneficial to have a stock style ticker on the top of the main forum page (or the main page) for latest messages or information. I was thinking it might be a cool way to let someone know of up-to-the-minute information. Kind of like if there's people in the chat room or people waiting for poker players in the game room? Or maybe just a heads up on a current event.
