Wrapper repair

I lit an A.F. Hemingway Classic last night during the Jets massacre and noticed the wrapper was unraveling. I made a spot repair, (licked it) it didn't do much good. Later, I tried again only with the cigar lit this time, I really don't want to go into those results right now. I have had this happen with varying brands over the years and made similiar repairs, with just as poor results. So two questions:

1. What is the proper way to repair a wrapper on an UNlit cigar?

2. What can be done when it happens when you're smoking it?

Very useful info on that link, thanks I'm off to the store. (BTW, I'll certainly be checking where Lee is in the lineup on future passes)

I find Cammie wrappers don't like the cold and low RH too much. The Padron SG wrappers are great up north.
