Hick Hop BBQ station on Pandora
Weird! I was just listening to this a couple hours ago.
Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells....still stands up to the test of time. Man, I wore this 8 track out a couple of times!
For those of us on the East Coast, NY metropolitan area, there was a radio station with the call letters WNEW-FM. It was the first album oriented FM rock station that I found in the late 60s and stuck with for many years. At 10pm on weekdays, there was a DJ named Alison Steele, 'The Night Bird', who captured my attention the most...along with Scott Muni. Steele's deep, sexy voice was the initial hook with her spacey intro...LINK...along with her reciting the most awesome poetry perfectly woven throughout her show. She played the coolest music I had ever heard and expanded my musical universe incredibly. It was her that got me into electronic music. Kraftwerk, Neu!, Vangelis, Isao Tomita, Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, etc. It was so cool cruising around at night, her on the radio...IN STEREO!!...waiting anxiously to hear what she would play next that we never heard before. Best of all, she was a SOTL and spoke often about smoking cigars! What a cool lady. Great memories.
There was a story she told of Jimi Hendrix's manager, Michael Jeffery, calling her one night during her show and told her 'did I know that Jimi wrote Night Bird Flying for you?' THAT'S how cool she was!
Later her show was syndicated, so I'm sure some of my fellow CP brothers of the same age will also remember her.
She certainly played a lot of Aphrodite's Child (Vangelis) music from what I remembered.
Such a great album.
If you like Billy Corgan, you need to watch this. It's the Joe Rogan/Billy Corgan interview. The only thing that bothers me, is how he wears his damn jacket.
I can only imagine how many stories he has!
Not music but a podcast. It’s called Cigars and Sea Stories. There’s a lot of military guys here. Maybe even some entrepreneurs. Listen to this podcast. Part entrepreneurship, part sea stories. All awesome.
You know the difference between a sea story and fairy tale is?
A sea story starts with “No shit, there I was ...”
I revisited this last night.
What if God was one us?
Just a slob like one of us?
Not bad for a deaf old man.
Thunderpussy. Nice name.
