BBQ Herf **edited for details.***

Steve,

Thanks for keeping me in the loop.

Unfortunately, I'll be doing the America's 9/11 Ride visiting all three crash sites that weekend. I know you all will have a great time. The Shenadoah is great Camping. Don't spend to much on the one arm bandits if you go. I won't mention the numerous men's clubs either.

You might want to consider a rafting/tubing trip for Sat.

Enjoy yourselves.

Frank (Big100HD)

Oh Steve, did you get my message at work? Sorry I missed you Memorial day, while I was there having breakfast with George. Guess you have a few holiday's off too.

Frank, is that you who's been leaving the half-drunk VMs on my cell?!

Dude, you've been calling the wrong Hawk. You want to call my brother, he's the one that works at the White House. Hell, I live in Boise, Idaho. As much as I'd like to, I can't meet you for lunch in D.C. at the drop of a hat! :D

Hello all,

This thread fell off my radar, thanks SteveHawk for bringing it to my attention. Since this thread has some age and a title that isn't real specific. You might want to start a new thread with a new specific title; summarizing the event & linking back to this thread. Just my 2¢.

So I'll need to see if I can squeeze this onto the calendar. Sounds like a great event thus far!

Dennis, is the area conducive to pulling in a 18' camper trailer and plugging in somewhere? I have an old camper that I've had on loan for about three years, may have to "borrow" it back for the weekend. Since leaving the ARMY I promised myself to limit my "camping" to during national disasters only! :D

Thanks again Steve!

I've been thinking about a Saturday activity or two that we could plan.

A few ideas I had were:

- River Rafting

- Visit to Harper's Ferry

- Regional wine tasting

- Charles Town Slots and Horse Racing

I'll research these out and post some more details later. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

You can include a cave trip as part of the Saturday's activities.
I had planned on taking Dennis and his son to a small cave that weekend anyway.
The cave is about an hours drive from his house.

That's another good idea!

For those who may not be familiar with these places, I've included some links below:

Blue Ridge Outfitters Rafting - The price is a bit steep but it is a good time. I've done this a couple of times. This is about 10 miles from where Dennis lives,

Charles Town Racetrack and Slots - Post time is 7:15 so this might make a better Friday activity. Slots are open from 7am - 4am. This is about 5 miles from the house.

Harpers Ferry National Historical Park - About 10 miles away. Great place for families or those who like history. This is the site of John Brown's raid and has a lot of Ciil War signifigance. There is a special celebration happening August 18-20: "Niagara Centennial Commemoration – Join the centennial celebration of the Niagara Movement, the cornerstone of the modern civil rights era. Celebration includes a variety of music, drama, and scholarship."

someone has to hang out and drink beer by the cooker with me damnit!!

You can fish in the river while you cook and drink beer, Erick. Another good idea!

Tim, there is room but no hook-ups. I am running a drop cord down from the house for lights and such. But I don't think it could handle two campers. I do have a generator if we need it. Also my house is on a hill. At the bottom by the river it is flat. You would have to be able to get your camper back up you may need a 4wheel drive. But if it is a travel trailer shouldn't be a problem. I have a 26' I am pulling down.

And for those that might want to just smoke you can up to Martinsburg to check out King Street Emporium and hang with the Saturday regulars, smoke cigars, drink coffee and tell lies to each other. That's what I'll be doing (working that day)!

Looks like this is shaping up to be a great time. I went and counted 18 BOTL that are coming. I think we should be able to get at least another 10-20 easy. Two months away and counting...

If you are DRINKING I would suggest you do NOT drive. The police around my parts like young or old drunk drivers. Plus I don't do to well with drunk drivers (I have my reasons)so I will call the police on you if you try to drive drunk. Sorry but I would rather see you in jail than to have you kill someones mom.

Good luck telling AVB he can't drive to the hotel room . :whistling: It's almost worth me attending this to witness that one! thehatguy, do you heal quickly? ???

Still at 80% chance, but it's looking better and better. The wife will not be in attendance.

Anyone talked to the other local (or almost local) BOTLs about attending?

Big100HD
Shadow
SamClemmons
Brewmeister
HerfinBigDog
MrJingles
CVille YoungGun
LC Smoker
others?

WHOA! A command appearance! :p

This is the weekend of August 18-20, right? It depends on a few things. We're in the process of planning our vacation for August. It may turn out that that weekend may be when we're returning from vacation. That being the case, we would be returning Saturday afternoon. And theoretically I could head to WV after unloading the family van which would put me in the Harpers Ferry area late afternoon to early evening in plenty of time for major herfing. :D

I'll have to see how things go before I know what's going on. I'll check with HerfinOne (Ben) as well. Unless he already has plans, he'll probably attend as well. There won't be SO's, kids or dogs involved. Just us herfers.

He carries a really big gun, so I don't think he needs to worry about healing. Anyway, that is his rule, if someone can't live with them, then maybe they should think about not attending. There is nothing wrong with a BOTL wanting to protect another BOTL or an innocent person.
