Just trying to keep up, but who is up now?

I'm sending out to amateuraficionado tomorrow.

*ETA* The hookup! Thanks Ed!

I have never had any of these and have only seen a few ever in person. I'm enjoying the Duvel right now. Thanks again!

I tried to have a mix of everyday to superpremium. Just like cigars. I hope you enjoy them. The Anejo goes very well with with the la chouffe

Just found this thread, brewed a barleywine before I left for my deployment, I'll have to send a few out when I get home!!

Thanks for your service! How long have you been in Iraq? My local distributor has some barley wine on the shelf I was eyeballing last week, I may have to pick some up and try it.

My package went out to amateuraficionado. Whom ever was the first to send this box that I received my box from SPIVY in, can you get more of them or point to where I can get them? The box is getting a little beat up and some of the styro sections are broken, plus I think the tape is starting to add shipping weight.

Some points on my first beer shipping experience.

Don't tell UPS what's in the box. He asked for insurance and I said "glass bottles" and he asked what was in the bottles. Not thinking I said "beer" and he proceeded to lecture me on the policy of UPS. I told him I would just claim "figurines" and he said no way and that I would receive a $10,000.00 fine if it was discovered I was shipping alcohol. :sign:  I don't know what UPS authority is on fines for bypassing their policy but I think it would be about zero.

Through my internet research after getting shafted at UPS I found that no one wants to ship alcohol and that USPS shipment could actually bring fines or charges. (that would have been good to know for the CP Secret Santa stuff I sent out :whistling: )

So I made my way to FedEx Kinko's to ship out my grandma's home made jams ??? and wasn't even asked what was inside. I was kind of disappointed because I made up this big story about a college friend from back in the day liking my grandma's jam and didn't get to use it on the clerk.

I never get asked what we ship. I once shipped a 10k set of Congacs 5 years back. The box was easily 3ft cube. The driver asked what we were shipping, I said a child :)

BTW how do you like the beers.

Before the Duvel last night(which was great), I had not had any of these beers. I like pretty much all Belgian brews so I await the weekend to try the La Chouffe with the Anejo. That glass is so cool with the blue lettering read through the front.

I almost swore off of Sam Adams a while ago when I found out the possibility that they bought and closed down Mackeson's Triple Stout, but they always have such great seasonal beer that can be found anywhere in the country. So I have not had the Light or the Summer, I was intrigued when I saw they made a light and wondered if they could pull it off. Now I'll know.

I've never cared for the IPA but I only really tried Sierra Nevada's IPA and I don't care for a lot of their line so it may just be that. Also when I tried the Sierra Nevada I was in a long binge of Guinness only and wouldn't touch anything else so that definitely could have influenced my tastes. I just looked up Indie and it's rated very high so maybe it will help me discover what I have been missing.

Thanks again Ed!

Sam Adams Light? Boys, boys, boys... Please keep the purpose of this beer it forward in mind when putting a package together. You are trying to send the other person something they cannot get locally and ideally something from your local beer scene. If you can't do that then perhaps send something vintage or special, but I am sure if you look hard enough you can find something local whether it’s a growler from a little brew pub or a bottle of homebrew. If we start sending common beer there is no point, why not just buy it ourselves and avoid the shipping fees?

I am not trying to single anyone out, the SA Light just happens to be the latest so I used it as the example. Drink on!

denverdog, I know exactly what you mean. What I tried to do is include a large enough blend of beers that I like, since Kujos tastes were similar. I went from everyday to superpremium.

If you don't consider the Sam Adams in the box it still comes to more than 88 oz!! Well above.

I think sending something extra above the PIF rules would be alright, kind of like if I sent a shot glass along with a Lambic glass in the box, they still get the minimum of the PIF.

My $.02

Exactly Jonas. While a lot of the Belgian beers out there are some of my absolute favorites, I wouldn't send them in this because most of them are widely available. My whole idea when I started this PIF and the general spirit I believe was sharing some local gems that aren't available to most people outside of your area, so please keep this in mind when putting your packages together.

Been here since October. Brewed my Barleywine on 8-8-08 and I should be ready to start shipping by the end of August. I figure 12 months should do this beer well.

Well I got the PIF today and I just have to say what an amazing selection of beer and other goodies Jeff put together for me. Couldn't be happier!!!

2x Millstream Schokolade Bocks
Orval Trappist Ale
Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Marzen

Very nice package Kuso. I'd never even heard of Millstream before so it game me something to go look up, that's one of my favorite things in this PIF.

Any chance we can get a better picture of the fluteish looking glass?
