#59 - A Feverish Review
I have been suffering from a severe cold the last few days - sniffles, running nose and a fever that just won't break. Nevertheless, I promised Lumpy I would review this cigar for him, so I decided no better time than the present, fever be damned!
Construction: 8.50
This cigar measured approximately 5.1875 x 43 , cedar wrapped.
A dark reddish brown wrapper with some moderate veining. Oily wrapper which seemed to give it almost a colored aura. This cigar of course is a classic, highly unlikely to disappoint.
Burn: 7.75
This firm baby lit right up, with a slightly tough draw, showing copious amounts of greenish white smoke. Ash is feathered, with a mottled light grey and lime green ash...
Taste: 8
Spicy. I tasted hints of Dr. Pepper, pine, and chocolate as I smoked it.
man. I can't describe it, but it's more like the subdued aged leather on the inside of a Jaguar as opposed to the strong "new car smell" of a brand new sportscar. I mean the new car smell is exciting, and I'm sure most people love it, but it can be overpowering.
Notes of cedar are evident, with hints of black pepper, propylene glycol and rust inhibitors.
However I noticed this:
I also found out what causes the "spicy" flavor in cigars, it's this neon green tar. When my tongue accidentally touched this tar, it was really spicy. Luckily it wasn't to unpleasant.
Consistency: 7.5
Burned consistent thoughout, although the ash color became worrisome.
Price wise I would guess this was a $8.75 - $9.50 cigar, unless I was shopping at Tobacco World Cigars, then I would guess around $25.00 - $30.00.
Overall Experience: 8.5
An unusual smoking experience, but after smoking this cigar, my fever was gone! :thumbs:

From my perspective as a non-participant in this, the tone you took with the guys in this thing a few pages back turned some off. It's not fun if you're demanding reviews from others. Besides, I think most know why you did this in the first place.....to salvage what's left of your reputation on here.

Another thing I find strange is, people say "oh you're only doing this because your reputation is so bad." Well if my reputation were so bad, how could I get 29 people to participate in an activity I organized, some of them respected members?

I will go ahead and list what all the cigars were. My list is in a spreadsheet in my office, so I will post the full list on Monday. I am sorry for implying that I was just going to give up entirely. Those who did fulfill their obligations don't deserve to lose out.
For anyone who is wondering who caused this to turn out the way it did, just search through the thread. I PMed people. I bumped threads. But no response from some people. And then of course the thread crapping. I'm not going to publicly call anyone out. It's all there for people to see.
Again, thanks to those who put forth genuine effort to review your sticks, get to them in a timely manner, and continued to post on the thread and express interest.

Really sorry about the direction the thread has gone Lumberg, I won't get into my opinions of fault on the matter, but regardless you have to admit that MMM did some work on this and it is funny as hell.

It took me back to my childhood where this one kid (Steve) in our neighborhood had got a new train set for christmas. It was a real nice Lionel with the coolest tunnel and all. Steve didn't play with the rest of us much because...well, we didn't like him. He was just wierd... I mean, he didn't like to play smear the queer, or football, or baseball.... you know...wierd. Anyway, one day he invited me and my best friend (Larry) over to play with his train set. We were pretty excited because, after all, it was a cool train set.
We went over to Steve's house and he met us in his garage and told us that in order for us to play with his train set we had to be his best friend and we couldn't be friends with Gary (another one of our friends) because he thought Gary was mean and was always picking on him. We told him OK, because, well... like I said in the first paragraph, it was a cool train set.
Well eventually Steve figured out we were still friends with Gary so he wouldn't let us play with his train set anymore. Funny, I'm sure that Steve thought by taking his train and going home we would somehow feel cheated because of Gary when in fact we realized what an a-hole Steve really was.
