Newbie Training Cigar Pass-- For February 07-

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe each of us should add 2 or 3 cigars as it goes along!

Sounds good to me, but I don't think anybody should feel obligated to do this, being we're a bunch of newbs and all.

edit:I looked at the list and I think there are 3 of each which totals 45. Right?

So I'm assuming you go to CI, find the box, divide by number in the box, and that is the value? If not on CI go to the next one and so on and so on...

Yup ..... also what Burnt Tongue said :D

One thing, I've never seen a pass with so few cigars in it. Does the host mind if I add five or so cigars? I usually start with at least 20 cigars, no need to worry about CI on these they're nothing very special :whistling:

In this pass we have three cigars of each posted. That is 3x15=45 cigars. The reason for three of each is to allow the possibility that most people would have a chance to try something they like without it going out early in the pass.

In terms of adding cigars that you are not trading anything for, that seems to be what CP is all about, generosity with a particular reason. No one is obliged, I say again that no one is obliged to add anything but put and takes, but one cannot say no to a generous spirit.

Also, please read the instruction sheet that comes with the pass. It may influence what you do in terms of adding cigars!! :whistling:

I have asked the pass to be moved to Cigar Passes in Progress Forum, but hopefully it will be done soon. Enjoy the weekend all!! :)

A great thing to do, if you haven't is to read some of the completed cigar passes to see how complicated the puts and takes can be and how the posting is done. One good one to read is; Completed Cigar Pass--Not Your Normal Pass. The thing that stands out is communication, integrity, and communication. We do not have the same type of cigars as the above mentioned pass, (how I wish), but learning from this can improve our chances of joining a great pass like the above. Enjoy! :)

God, that was a lot of reading... but definitely worth it. You get to see the highs and lows of a pass, and how to handle it appropriately.

It really is an important read. It is a good way to break into and understand the culture of this great site. The handling of things appropriately is where, by the reading of it, many of us newbies are deficient.

I suspect that by tomorrow or Wednesday NorCalCigarLover will be posting here to let us know he received the package. Standing anxiously by!! :D

....you guys need to watch "Norky Dorky Cal Boy" very closely. Last pass he was in, he took all the Davidoff's and Opies and here was his put:

Okay guys, a few things to discuss since this is a learning pass, look HERE for example pictures from one of my old passes.

First, there aren't 15 cigars in the pass, there are a total of 45 cigars! 3 of each type as posted on the first page, more than enough cigars SJM  . Generally in a Pass, each cigar is placed in an individual baggie with it's assigned number written on the baggie, see the pictures for an example. That entire list is then posted on the first post and updated as each participants makes his plays. I don't include a printed list in my passes anymore as it always causes me more confusion than needed, but this method requires that I remain diligent at updating the first post as each participants makes his plays.

All bagged and numbered cigars are then placed into a larger, one gallon or so, baggie so they aren't loose in the tupperdore. It is very important that when the larger bags of cigars are packed in the tupperdore that there is sufficiant packing material surrounding the bag as to not allow any movement of the large bags. Sadly, this movement of cigars while enroute has ruined many a wonderful cigar, check out the pictures :( .

I've placed all of the cigars in this pass in individual baggies, I haven't numbered the baggies yet but will leave it up to SJM as to what he wants me to do. Here is what the official list of cigars would look if I were to pack it with each cigar individually numbered. I think this would also make it much less complicated when participants are making their selections, but that's just my opinion and I'll leave the decision to SJM. I'll include a bag of extra baggies in the box for participants to use.

First I want to apologize to NorCalCigarLover for the mess he had to clean up. As well as I thought I did my homework it was not done well enough. Please learn from my mistakes. I packed the three cigars of each type on one baggy. That was wrong as you see above. What should have been done was each cigar should have been in its on separate bag DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE WERE MORE OF THE SAME CIGARS!! NorCalCigarLover is now going through the tedious task of taking out all of the cigars I packed and repacking them in their own numbered bags according to the above list. This means that as you make your Puts and Takes you do so from the above numbered items. The advantage of having them in their own bag is that it protects the cigars from being handled too often. This would be very important if we were dealing in some of the super premiums that we would not want ruined in a pass.

Again, I not only thank NorCalCigarLover for cleaning up the mess, but also for being so patient and kind in doing so. May G-d save us from newbies!!!

Hey Norky Dorky (sorry, couldn't resist).

Where can you get those single ziplocks?

Try HERE , it's always great to do a group buy of these and I'm sure you could get some of the newbies in this pass to participate

I ordered a case of these and will put what I don't need in the pass if they get here in time. Feel free to take as many as you want.

Justin

Dear NorCalCigarLover,

I feel funny telling you that your P&Ts are approved, but going by the book, P&Ts approved!!! Now should this be noted in the first page of the thread? I think that I strikeout the numbers taken and place the puts on the bottom. I just want to check that this will work. Thank you again for fixing the packing mess and for your guidance in this. :)
