So i am in the process of researching and gathering products to build a coolerdor.. i am thinking about the hygrometer.. i would like something that i could read w/o opening up the box all the time.. my overlal plan is to keep a small wood humidor with cigars that i will be smoking and just replenish when i start to run low.. i want to keep the coolerdor stocked and opened minimally.

I was doing some searching and came across a digital hygrometer / thermometer that had a probe on it that you would normally drape outside a window.. i was thinking of maybe drilling a small hole in the cooler and sticking the prob in then using some silicone to seal it..

do you think this would work well? do you think that the drilling and re-sealing the hole could cause issues w/ the sealign of the cooler?

also.. regardin the cooler itself.. i have been looking around online for different coolers.. figure i woudl hve a larger selection online then in local stores.. however.. none of these online sites have any pictures of the inside of the cooler.. just to see if it would be condusive to shelving

Get this and it resolves everything! http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4449439

I would use an outdoor weather thermometer...one of the wireless ones. That is what I use in my cooledors. You can't calibrate them, but if you salt test them you can see how far they are off and mark it accordingly. This way I have one display on my desk and I can measure the temp and humidity in three different cooledors.
