No, you're missing the point. Feel free to post thoughts about cigars, reviews of cigars, what you like to eat or drink with your cigars, basically anything. But for newer guys to get involved in threads like this is a bad idea, so it's best to just stay out of them. Get to know this place and let us get to know you. You'll be very happy you did.

Edit to add: While you misinterpreted the comments as a personal attack, which are not tolerated on here by Rod or the community, your apology is a good start. Stick around and ease into it.
 
iedgar, if all else fails, search the Pembroke Rule and maybe be a little less emotional when proclaiming where you're going and whatever ball you're taking with you.

Flippantly declaring that you're done with Cigar Pass will be met with a quick and swift escort out the door simply because it's no longer tolerated here.

Just think before you post, and take some of the good advice you've been given, an you'll do just fine here.

Also, crossing swords with T36 not only excites him, it makes him like you even more. :laugh:
 
You think that's a personal attack? When I see a guy who smoked his first cigar just over two weeks ago, yet posts in the Cuban forum 40% of the time, I'm going to say something. But hey, maybe I'm the one who is wrong. You feel personally attacked, click the "Report" button on my post.
 
iedgar, since I and many others have been in your shoes before, I'm going to chalk what appears to be the somewhat less than sincere and somewhat more than snarky tone of your apologies up to the limitations of plaintext and offer a simple explanation, one noob to another, that may save you some time and grief:

Cigar Pass is a self-moderated community. There are no "mod hats" riding herd on us here, and no "clean up on aisle seven" crew deleting posts to keep things tidy. There's just a community of BOTL acting like adults, and some people who have been here quite some time, and earned their worth among us, and their reputations for sound judgement, occasionally stepping in to remind us what that looks like and means.

You've been corrected, firmly but fairly, by a couple of them. Take it as a learning experience, or keep getting clue-by-four'd when you don't. Choice is yours.

I just flushed the toilet...

To be clear, the old CP (and I mean old) was a community that watched out for each other. Then, as time went on, a few cliques developed, and certain individuals got a big head on their shoulders (much like a moderator tends to get) and acted as if CP were only their community. Most of them either got banned or left on their own.

I've encouraged we continue with the "old way" rather than the "my balls are bigger than yours" way. ;)

Hope that makes sense...
