OK, I use the term "photographer" loosely, as I just like to capture what's around me, whereas I know we have at least one member here who does it professionally, I think. So, post some cool photographs you have taken, some information about it (camera used, as well), and hopefully this takes off.

This is absolutely my favorite shot I've ever taken. It's in Bern, Switzerland, and snapped with a little Pentax point-and-shoot camera as I was passing an alley I thought looked cool. Sometimes you just get gold when you least expect it...

Forget where this is from. My wife taken with my Nikon D7000.

Sinsheim Technik Museum in Sinsheim, Germany. One of the two coolest places I've been to here. The other being its sister museum in Speyer. I think this was with the D7000, though it may still be from the D5000.

Sinsheim, again. Underneath the Concorde looking at the Russian SST.

I used to shoot off road racing for agency back in the 80's. I have always loved taking pictures. I recently contacted my old boss and asked him if he needed a little extra help. Long story short I was at the San Felipe 250 two weekends ago. Here are a few of my shots

Apologies. I didn't take the bandwidth issue into consideration. Good point. Sorry, Rod.

Wow, guys. I'm just going to go ahead and sell my camera now... I love those roadway shots. I've never been able to get the right shutter speed to catch those at the right time. Are any of your (anyone) photos touched up, color-wise? They are brilliant.

DON'T SELL YOUR CAMERA! Just keep shooting. It's a digital, right? I have a D3100 and I'd say for every 10 shots I take I get 1 I really like. To get the light streaks on night shots, first you need a tripod, second you need to open the aperature as wide as it will go with the slowest shutter speed the camera will give you. I don't pay too much attention to the specs for each shot (though I guess I could load them in Lightroom and see if the metadeta shows), but you'll probably need a shutter speed of 15~30 seconds with the aperature wide open.

Thanks. The camera is safe, I assure you. When I view my own photos, through the camera, my hard drive, as well as in Photobucket, the photos I like seem crisp and vibrant to me (even though I know the weather doesn't assist me much most of the time). I'm very happy with them. Then I see the pics that you guys have posted here and I realize they aren't as nice as I originally thought. I shoot in RAW, so perhaps that has something to do with it. I do not post-manipulate them in Photoshop or Lightroom or anything like that. Part of me wants to get the perfect picture right from the camera and setup... but most of me is just lazy. So, I don't know. Any thoughts?

Vicster: That fisherman on the lake photo is friggin AMAZING.

*EDIT* I put most of my photographic energies into the framing of the photo. I like to get shots that tell stories, so, I'm pretty mobile (for me, anyway) when I shoot. I have a tripod, but I don't use it much. I need to get a high vantage point here and try getting a traffic shot like that. Thanks for the tips.

You might try fiddling with the ISO setting. I still need to shoot a bunch of test shots through the range of ISO's, shutter speeds, and aperature settings to see what this camera can do. None of my shots are manipulated with PS (although I may start adding some vignetting with Light Room. I love the way it looks). I could load them in and up the saturation. Like you, I usually focus more on composition than the camera settings.

Also, are you wiping the lens periodically? A bunch of dust/fingerprints will diffuse the shots coming through the lens. You can see the hazing (due to dusty lens) on the bridge night shot which disappointed me a lot when I loaded the pics on my computer. Now I remind myself to wipe the lenses down periodically with a special anti-static cloth.

here is my contribution, this is a church in Mayaguez Puerto Rico. i shot it with a canon rebel 300D (an oldy but still kicking)

i wish i could be better at this but i have so many hobbies that this one falls to the side

I just totally lucked into this roadway shot, trying to keep the lens open long enough to get the flags across the street.

I have another version of that pic somewhere, where a guy was sweeping the sidewalk during the pic. I have to see if I can find it.

A shot of Caesar's Palace in Vegas that I took with a simple Olympus FE-230 point-and-shoot pocket camera.
