Need a new Scotch

If you're adventurous and want to try something... different... give Rogue Distillery Dead Guy Whiskey. It may just grow on ya.

Bump..

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is a favorite go-to of mine.

Mine too. My favorites---Glendronach and Benriach---have dried up locally, but Glenmorangie and Balvenie are still readily available. I try new stuff all the time but when I want to be SURE . . . those are first picks.

I've seen this, and been intrigued. Not a huge Rogue fan, but it is whiskey after all. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The Glen 10 is about $40 here. Can't go wrong with it for the price. I do like the Balvenie double wood too. I recently tried their 14 yr Rum cask version. Hard to believe how peaty and smokey it was at first taste. I really was expecting a much more pronounced rum finish. I did find that coming out as it opened up with a little ice, but still not as smooth as I was expecting for a 14. Not that it will go to waste! ;)

Was reading through the Rye threads and remembered- Got a bottle of Johnnie Walker Rye Cask last year. I'm not usually a blended scotch guy, but that was damn fine.

wife brought home this for our 15th Anniversary tonight!

Admittedly...all my best scotches came from Ray.

I drank something very interesting over the holidays at a buddy's house...a mixed drink...that used scotch and a bunch of other stuff, one of which was absinthe. He found the recipe online and it's called the '100 Year Old Cigar'. He told me to bring over some scotch & absinthe as he knew I had both...he supplied the rest and prepared the drink. It was interesting to say the least, especially since I'm not a mixed drink kinda guy. It was a process to make and I'd never do it my self...but it was kinda cool....and I finally had a chance to use a bottle of Highland Park in a black bottle (mixing scotch) for the first time...and I left it there! :p

I didn't do it this Yule, but this time of year I like to make Scotch Bears---half Scotch, half Barenjager, on the rocks. Bit like a Rusty Nail. You need a pretty sturdy blended Scotch to stand up to the Barenjager though . . . JW Red Label is perfect.

I’ve sampled highland park 12, while I found it smokey, it did seem smooth. Not had Talisker before, but from reading reviews, it seems overkill on the smoke.

The Storm isn't for me....not in the least
