It pays the bills..

I spent 30 years as a civil engineer designing everything from the ground down in development projects. Now I work for my number 1 client for 20 of those 30 years. It's a dream job. Challenging every day.

I'm a middle school general and instrumental music teacher. Going on year 16.

I also work part time at a local brewery as a tap room attendant and tour guide.

For a while I was also in a local 90's cover band, and now I still do some playing/gigging whenever called upon for various bands in the area.

I work for a mortgage lender, doing quasi-underwriting, documentation analysis, risk analysis stuff. As the thread title says, it pays the bills, but I'm looking for a more fulfilling opportunity. I've been learning about social media and trying to grow my GF's business social media almost from the ground up. Anybody out there working in social media? Anybody out there know of any opportunities in administration?

Great topic btw...

I used to be a prostitute until business kind of shriveled up... then I started wholesaling viagra, and now business is rock solid... šŸ˜®
Hilarious answer from Mr. Safe Search šŸ˜†.

I started as a skilled trades recruiter and eventually moved to managing the Charlotte office's operations. Now I direct company safety and corporate training.

In all seriousness though, Iā€™m glad there are people like you to manage people like me. Iā€™m aware of my complacency but Iā€™m complacent about it šŸ¤£

Thatā€™s an important job sir! There are some days I think band was the only reason I didnā€™t drop out and I remained friends with our director. Youā€™re a great influence on your students šŸ˜Ž

I spent some time as a housepainter and let me tell you, we thought NOTHING of going up things like that with a bucket of paint in one hand and a brush in the other! šŸ¤Ŗ

One time I particularly remember we laid plywood down over an entry pergola, stood a stepladder on it, ran a scaffold plank from the stepladder over to the roof, put a 30' extension ladder on that, and sent me up it to trim out under the peak of the eaves on the third story. These days, any time the ol' rotator cuff or kneecap twinges from damage they took during my construction days, my response is just, "Well, hey, at least I didn't DIE." šŸ™„

My boss always know when Iā€™m going to do something stupid when I say ā€œYou might not want to see this.ā€ Lol.

What they donā€™t see doesnā€™t hurt them.

I'm a retired Marine, and for the last 8 years I've been working for a small company that specializes in Marine Corps training and education. I have a couple of side hustles (flying and teaching flying) that I use to fund my cigar hobby.
