Jarts

Like many, we had these as a kid. I remember my brother and I underhand throwing them at each other playing Tag. The rules were that if you got hit, you lost, and if you caught it then the other person automatically lost. How did I not lose any limbs earlier in life...
 
We "possibly" bought two sets from a EU company, because you can't find em over here. Then, after a few months went by, we "may have" received notice they were illegal to sell to us and we should(if we had them) destroy them. Yup!!!

Side note: I've always heard/just called them "Lawn Darts". Where does the term jart come from? When I read the subject before opening the thread, I figured this was going to be about some new clothing fad that Jeff was getting into to go along with his white New Balance sneakers...
 
Nick, I have to state the obvious. ;). The name "Jarts" comes from the printing on the box and ads.(sorry, I had to.). People in different areas call them different things, I suppose. We grew up calling them jarts.

The progression was, start 20+ feet apart, then began moving further apart until we were launching them a good long distance. Then, they started to gain altitude to where they were coming almost straight down, into or near the ring. The higher the better.

YES! This is exactly why they outlawed them, I'm certain. While none of us got hurt, there were a few times where it was close.

The Crown Dart set comes with a blunt tip. "If" I still had them, I'd take them to a shop and have them grind points onto them. When summer came, the ground was too hard for the blunt tips. They'd just bounce.
