Happy Memorial Day!

Taken from a friends facebook page (He's a Marine). Do with it what you want.

Here's some ground rules for this weekend:
1. Don't wish me a Happy Memorial day. There is nothing happy about brave men and women dying.
2. It's not a holiday. It's a remembrance.
3. If you want to know the true meaning, visit Arlington or your local VA, not freaking Disneyland.
4. Don't tell me how great any one political power is. Tell me about Earl Werner, Taylor Marks, Adam Plumondore, Adam Lindsey, Chesty Puller, George Patton, John Basilone, Dakota Meyer, Kyle Carpenter, Mitchell Paige, Ira Hayes, Chris Kyle, Josh Ford and any other heroes too numerous to name. Attend a Bell Ceremony and shed some tears.
5. Don't tell me I don't know what I am talking about. I have carried the burden all too many times for my warriors who now stand their post for God.
6. Remember the Fallen for all the Good they did while they were here.
7. Reach out and let a Vet know you're there, we're losing too many in "peace".
One more thing. As a veteran you come together, you can have that BBQ but before you eat you circle up and say a prayer. Raise that drink to your bother and sister. Then you don't say a word cause everyone know what you are thinking, and the tear that goes with it. Then you eat.
-- This is about those that died for our country not people that served. --

Joe, I wanted to wish my bothers and sisters a great weekend because I know there are a lot of us who served.

Your post honestly made me feel bad .. but not on you. You and your friend are right!

Although a lot of us served, few of us were in harms way .... and those who were, are true, honest to God, heros!

Tears!

I never served so I may be out of line here. My thoughts are that those who truly served did it because they loved what US stands for and they were ready to die for that.

In my mind their lives were not lost in a way that let’s say people died in Holocaust or 9/11. These events were true tragedies with no upside or any positives at all.

I am sad that our soldiers lost their lives. But I think they would want us to be happy knowing that their lives were not lost in vain Their sacrifice allowed US to continue being the best country in the world. And that’s a big reason to celebrate while solemnly remembering those who are no longer with us
