In this case try more wine from barbera d’alba.
There is some amazing wine in Italy. But the better quality one is full / big wine. Brunello de multiplicano is one of the best varietals for that but a decent bottle in a restaurant (about double the regular store price ) would run you 60 euro plus

I found some wine Specialist in Venice and bought fresh local wine, tasted like heaven, he had massive glass wine holders which he tapped the bottles up,
