Today's Smoke 2025

Tats
I'm surprised as well. I smoked a fair number of Tats back in the day, and to be honest I'd take a regular brown or red label over several of these monster smash cigars, even without considering the two with construction issues.
tats Aren’t what they used to be. Used to be a staple in my humidor. Now I can’t stand them.

I'm surprised to hear of your issues. I'm not that familiar with Tatuaje, but have really love the several I've had, and they seem to be considered very reliable. Have the moved to another factory or something? @rbbrock your issues seem like they may be going through a bit of a rough spot in terms of QC.
Doesn't My Father produce for Tatuaje?

They do. Also some aroma de Cuba, foundation, and others. I think that they have over did themselves and quality has diminished.
I didn't know about Foundation. I'm a big My Father fan though.
Haven't smoked a Tat yet but I have a box in the humi. Hopefully it's not disappointing, I was looking forward to trying those.

From what I've read, I believe Foundation moved the Wise Man to My Father from wherever it was originally made and the consensus seemed to be that they weren't as good. I haven't had either version so can't say, myself.

They were at Aganorsa. I love My Father, I'm not a fan of Aganorsa. But I haven't had the Wise Man either. Hard to believe it would get worse. But like he said, if they're taking on too much and quality is slipping, I could see it. I hope it doesn't start effecting the My Father line though.

I’ve been told there’s a shortage of rollers, all the really good ones aged out, with Padron being the exception.

First cigar in a week last night. Some of you OFGs may relate, got a case of prostatitis last week and had forgone coffee, alcohol, and just didn't feel like a cigar, frankly, but the Cipro kicked in and I'm on the upswing. Had this last night, going to do all Avo until I try all their regular production.

Avo Classic No. 2 (toro 6x52 I think). This is mild/med good for beginners, and just right for my first smoke in a week. I got a box because it was on sale somewhere, but I doubt I'd get another one. Good cigar, but not a lot of complexity there, I'm definitely more of a medium and medium/full smoker. Somewhat wavy burn but only needed one correction, otherwise good construction and draw. Looking forward to trying the others in the line. So far have had the Syncro Ritmo (not real impressed) and this, which is solid mild smoke, good for guests who want to try a cigar. Won't buy another box, though.

Also if im not mistaken olmec and Aksum are made by my father as well and they are some of my favorite smokes and have no issues with them either.
I haven't smoked one yet, but I bought a box of the Pregneto or whatever its called Charter Oak by Foundation. That whole box smells like Lakeland pipe tobacco. I would have never guessed it came from My Father.
