1967 saw AFRTS' Military audience grow by 100,000 to 485,000. During the year they started satellite relay for some sporting events. It still wasn't live but instead of waiting for a week for tape the delay was only a day. Of course the big sports story was Ali refusing to be drafted. You can imagine what slant that was reported on. The 6 day war was widely reported but America's burning cities from race riots wasn't although "Soul" music had a major increase in playing time. Sgt. Pepper's was easily the most played alum. I don't think the military understood it. "Incense and Peppermints" was one of the first "drug" songs to be banned.
