Please test the new vHerf

As you know, our current vHerf relies on a 3rd party vendor, Zoom. While it has served its purpose, I believe we can create something better, more geared towards our community. I just finished creating a new platform called HerfSpace, which is a virtual cigar lounge (an extension of CP). You can very easily fire up a room, or use one of the pre-existing rooms. It comes fully loaded with lobby chat, room chat, what are you smoking, etc...

This system is completely proprietary and resides on our own hardware/server, no 3rd party reliance whatsoever.

Please give it a try tonight by going to www.herfspace.com and signing up. Please keep track of any bugs or feature requests you may have, and let me know when you get a chance. I will have an account running monitoring traffic.

I tried the new one and will not be using it at this time. My zoomable webcam will not zoom in, and I'm not going to sit 2 feet in front of my 50" TV. It will also not connect to my earbuds, only my webcam audio...

Which model webcam do you have?

Zoom will be replaced with the new site eventually, so I want to make sure it works correctly.

@Rod I’m not sure what webcam I have off the top of my head, but I can’t imagine that is an issue. It works perfectly for all of my other applications.

Today when I tried the new vHerf, the webcam zoom is completely inoperable.

@dawgie Thanks for the info. I'll work on it some more next week and see if we can get everything to work as expected. Will let you know when the next update is out.

I attempted to use it during a v-herf no issues on my Android cell phone (Samsung S23 ultra). Worked well in portrait mode, some landscape mode options covered the other guests.

I'm going to get the desktop version working well first before I focus on the mobile app. I just made several updates, and will be uploading it later today.

If we can get off zoom and onto our own platform, we can then push it in the direction the group wants with features, etc. Zoom is just a meeting server, no customization at all. While it works, I'm hoping we can create something better. So if those who frequent it the most can keep providing feedback, we should be able to create a solid platform.

I think I forgot to mention, I’m using a Mac Mini, if that makes any difference…
