I just saw an update today that a new ban has passed the UK Parliament which will, after royal approval, ban anyone born after 2008 from buying any tobacco product in perpetuity.

If this stands, it will be the death knell, eventually, of some truly historic businesses.

Doesn't make sense. So when these people are 50 years old they will still never be able to buy tobacco products while everyone else can?

The bill says "The Tobacco and Vapes Bill passed through Parliament today and will make it illegal for anyone born after 2008 to buy tobacco from a shop." Not sure what "from a shop" means but this sounds like and AI scam.

Correct. The bill raises the legal age to purchase tobacco products by one year, every year, from 2027 forward.

From a retailer in the UK. There are tons of articles about the bill, it's not made up.

It just doesn't make sense. Unless it is a sneaky attempt to eliminate tobacco shops altogether. Think about it, in time, there will be nobody alive or aloud to buy from a tobacco shop?

I'm guessing this is a result of the government's inability to profit enough from tobacco sales. The world's governments have figured out how to profit from drug distribution which is why they don't shut it down. They make money from the sales and they make money from the fake attempts to eliminate it. Nice gig if you can get it.

Maybe this is an attempt to push tobacco in the same direction?
