Deleted Partition Issue

I was reloading Win XP home and I forgot to detatch my slave drive. When going in to delete the partition on the master drive to reload the OS, I accidentally deleted the partition on the slave drive (because I didn't detatch it). I haven't written over the drive yet...can I recover the data on the drive (baby pictures)? I have found a link to "Bootmaster partition recovery software". Is it any good? Can anyone give me another option? What can I do...this will end in divorce if I cannot get the pictures back!

Most of those products require being loaded FIRST.

:( that sucks. I also use the software Alex recommended at work, it should do the trick with a little luck.

And if you don't have one yet... pick up a DVD burner and make back-ups of your pictures on a regular basis.

agreed wurm, i am an avid amature photog, and i have triple back ups of my pics (i know, over redundant, but 2 sets of dvd backup and an external hdd, as well as my online storage..i meant 4 backups :blush: ....)

There are plenty of software to get your data back.
Once deleted and finalised you cannot recover,it deleted it!
I use ontracks easy recovery pro but it was warezed which I dont condone anymore.

I may have other software I can give you if ya need.

Basically,install windows onto a drive makeing it master then connect your drive with data deleted as slave.
Scan with the software and copy to your master drive.

Now,format and reinstall or use the other drive as your main now and continue useing your once main as slave.If you want the origional drive back,format,install xp,copy data back over.

I had a 5 copy redundancy going on a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have the common sense to keep at least one copy offsite somewhere. We had an apartment fire and I lost everything. My "fireproof" cabinet didn't even keep my data safe, it got too hot.

Now I keep 2 copies at home, 1 at the in-laws, and 1 online. Hopefully that will take care of everything.

I've used Partition Magic a lot for the basic stuff with partitions, but I don't think it can recover lost/deleted partitions. I backup all the really important stuff, like documents/photos, and even some less important stuff (hey, those blank DVD's aren't expensive). Good luck with the recovery fetter!

Yeah, grammer who needs that. Just a waste of time, IMO. (Exclude the grammer that I used in this sentence) ;)
 
Once the partition is deleted, you are not going to be able to recover the drive.. even if you put another partition on the drive, the PC wont be able to see it unless its formatted..

Yeah, who needs grammar, right? Do you know the difference between grammar and spelling words wrong? Good luck with your job interviews and writing effective cover letters, my guess is you're going to need it, lots of it. ;)
