I believe Ebay has a policy against the sell of tobacco products, but every once in a while you come across an auction for a humidor or some various item which looks to include cigars. I came across this one tonight for a humidor which includes "23 Arturo Fuente Añejo Cigars, 23 Fuente OpusX Cigars, and 10 various size Padron 1964 Anniversary's". Interesting..

AUCTION

Usually, ebay will pull the item in question, but this line makes their decision a little hairy.

TOBACCO IS ONLY SOLD AS COLLECTOR ITEM...

Probably a judgement call on their part. I can tell you, if you put "cigars" or "tobacco" in the $HT-PAL box, they will cancel both the seller and the buyers $HT-PAL accounts. Multiple layers of crazyness going on.

I tried to sell partagas 150's singles but they pulled the auction, but a guy with full boxes was able to sell them seems full boxes are more collectible than than singles?

The problem is that the Ebay folks who are monitering these auctions done't know shit about cigars. So when they see someone blatantly lying and calling a handful of Opus or Anejos "Very Rare, Collectible, you can't buy these in stores" Ebay believes them. Whereas we, the educated know-it-alls, know that those are not what they claim, and in fact just a rip-off for the suckers out there.

Can I ask why it's such a fuggin' crime to sell on E-Bay?? If these guys are smart enough to know that someone will buy it for way more than MSRP...why do you all throw such big fits? The guys that buy this stuff and get robbed know that they are paying way too much...but they just may have the cash to do it! Gougers at tobacco stores should be shot...but these dudes on E-Bay?, good for them.

Just let it go, people...let it go!

<edit> I have never, nor do I plan on selling cigars on E-Bay. I'm just a sales rep who knows how to make a few bucks!

Good Question...

I've seen a few of these on ebay over the years, and the only ones that stick include the statement in the description that the auction is for the collectors value of the boxes and this value exceeds the "cost of the tobacco" Just a loophole to sell tobacco on ebay. Prepare to get gouged.

Good Question...

There have been a few situations the past few months that guys from this board have had listings thrown off of e-bay for "gouging". Selling Opus X as collectibles when the bidding price was way over MSRP! If a guy has Opus's that he wants to sell on E-Bay and guys who have never seen them bid way too much for them...then that's how E-Bay works. The guys on the this board that would have that auction thrown our for "gouging" are the ones who always seem to throw a fit, bitching and whining...they know who they are.

As for you new guys..."search" function works well when looking up our past.

Just MHO.
