What is the dealio with Tubos? I have searched and found a limited amount of info. Best I can find is they are a handy little carrying case to protect singles. I've also heard they have a preserved "environment" to keep the cigar.

I see them as just an added cost to certain cigars that are available boxed?

Am I missing something?

I tend to agree.

They do prevent box-pressing on cigars that would normally be squeezed into a dress box, but I haven't detected a significant difference in quality between tubed and untubed cigars of the same marque, vitola and vintage.

From what I know, it's mainly a protective measure for transporting/storing of the cigar. It's also become a decorative addition.

I think the Forbidden X Tubed says it's a sealed environment, the same from which it was grown. But I don't think this is the intent for most tubos. Regardless, you'll find a lot of people put them in their humi and remove the cap, let's humidity in, but still protects.

I don't think you're going to find any taste difference between two identical cigars, one tubed and one naked.

My only real use for tubos is to protect the cigar when I throw it in my golf bag. Other than that I stay away from them because they can be more expensive than the same size without the tubo. Taste should stay the same if maintained properly. Most tubos do not offer any substantial buffer in humidity and will probably not keep a smoke humified much longer.

Slb and tubos vogars will be round, as for dress box they bill be abit flatter in a rectagular form. Depends on which one pleases you. Quality wise they is no difference unless its between normal and cabinet series.

Exactly - I don't buy tubos because they're more expensive and unless you're buying singles or a special vitola - they make no difference.

I like tubos, they are easy to grab when you're in a hurry and don't want to use my cigar caddy.
