As for the frivolous lawsuit being settled to both parties satsfaction....I don't know about that. I know that a solid businessman, and a brother who really is part of the community put up with a lot of BS. If a lawyer tiold you that you could sue an old age home, kick all the people into the street, and make some quick cash...would you? NO, because you have some common sense and some morals. Was this guy's lawyer a scumbag too? Maybe...but he can't hide behind that. Sometimes things are just plain on their face wrong.

The last time we met for a smoke, I said "So, you're a lawyer?" in polite conversation. Three days later I got an invoice for $500 in the mail for a consultation fee.
 
You're correct. Sometimes I make mistakes. Please don't hold it against me. I am really not a bad guy. Just plodding along doing the best I can. I think youre analogy my be a little mis-guided.

I hope I got all the spelling and grammer correct. Do I owe you anything for that last correction? LOL!

Which analogy? I used a lot of them, and all of them were using more extreme examples in order to make a point.
If you are referring to the nursing home example, surely, the events being discussed are not as distasteful as throwing old people out on the street, but the point is...if a slimy lawyer tells you that you can make a buck by doing something that just looks and smells WRONG, you can't then clear yourself of any MORAL responsibility by saying that the lawyer made you do it, or told you that you could.

Just to refresh everyone's memory, this dealer was recently banned from CigarPass. He did not just tick off "somebody." He thumbed his nose at all of us and then eventually drove the owner/administrator of this forum to officially sanction him.

That is the kind of dealer we're talking about here.

I expect and hope that everyone will follow their conscience in this matter. We are not sheep and you must make decisions based on your own sense of what is right. I think the point we're making is that you should make an effort to understand why there is such an intense antipathy toward this dealer and to respect that if not the personal decision to refrain from conducting business with them.

Maybe I'm sticking my neck out for a BOTL that a lot of folks are throwing stones at, but I'm sure Burnt Tongue didn't mean anything shady by his post, and I'm willing to wager that he considers you guys all big boys who are capable of making your own decisions. I don't see this as anything different from the guy who jokingly posted the octabong here a couple days ago. Maybe that guy was joking, and maybe B.T. was offering up info on a deal, but the bottom line is that B.T. was not advocating this guy imo, he was only showing what he's got going on. I should think that this flamefest is not necessary. If you don't like him attack him, not B.T. for speaking his name. I would encourage anybody here to submit anything in good taste period. No aryan nation b.s. No kiddie porn. But anything regarding cigars sounds good to me. I would also encourage anybody not in the know to do a little research if they have a question and make the call for themselves. I just think it's bad form to bash a guy for posting. Just because Mike is a p.o.s. to some folks doesn't make Burnt one by mere reference!

But as I read back on the thread, I don't see anything that I'd count as "flaming." He did react in a way that might have been perceived as a bit cheeky, but then he's a relative short timer and I know I don't really have a good grasp of what he's about. That'll come in time. Smokelaw1 probably presented the most spirited reply to BT but then I think I know Josh a little and I know he really values this community.

BT isn't finding himself somewhere that most of us have not been at some point in our time here. As was pointed out in the past, and is true here as well, how he reacts and recovers will establish the sense of character or lack thereof.

He shouldn't be thrown completely under the bus, but I think the title of the post says it all as to why he is getting some static. He says "I know we don't like this guy...but a deal is a deal." Seems to me that simply posting this here was inviting some of what he's gotten. He knew the vendor wasn't liked here and posted anyway, thus supporting that vendor. If it brought 1 purchase from this board, that was too many and both parties should be ashamed of themselves. This vendor deserves zero recognition here other than the recognition that he has been banned and for good reason.

I didn't see any flaming towards BT, just some advice given in the manner it is often given around here. If he considers all of us "big boys" he should put himself in the same boat and take the advice he was given as advice, not personal attacks.

No one wants you to go away or stop posting, we all know how exciting it is to share in the great place CP is. But we all at time make mistakes. This time it was your turn.

Best thing to do is say, I'm sorry and let it go. No one will think less of you, but if you get into a pissing contest... well just take my advice and dont, it isn't worth it.

Perhaps you're right and I may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. Perhaps I'm the one who is too spirited. I just hate to see anybody catch grief for what they say here. If they're misguided then so be it. I just don't want to ever see this place become fertile ground for a little newbie castrating that Cigar Afficianado has become famous for. I don't foresee that happening here, just got under my collar. As for Smokelaw, I've spoken with him before and I know he's a good guy. Being a law student I really respect his common-sense views on things. I dig him.

I just think that we shouldn't scold anybody for making a newbie mistake or saying they shouldn't talk as much. We were all newbies once and I can name quite a few times that a lot of us put our foot in our mouths. Folks just keep that in mind next time. Communication in this heaven we call CP would screech to a halt if everybody fearfully searched out every topic they wished to discuss on CP in the forum before posting. I'm off my soapbox now. You guys rock. CP rocks. Let's just keep it that way.

Look you guys, if you read this whole thread I have apologized. I was aware thru reading some old threads that there was some resentment of this dealer, I am not sure I still understand it. I do know that I am not aware of any banishment of this company I can tell you, or I would not have posted to begin with.

I do know this I like this board and its members. I also know that I read alot more than I post. Should you consider me a posting whore so be it. Then consider me a reading whore too. I enjoy it and I am not gonna stop. I like the jousting that goes on here and willfully participate. Therefore I can take anything you guys can dish out. We are suppose to have fun here a little difference of opinion makes it interesting. I am not to thin skinned. I suggested once we let this go, I will suggest agsin!
