Went to see The Who last night

"Wow" doesn't really cover it. Townsend / Daltry and a smokin' hot band came out and played their butts off for almost two and a half hours. I got to hear many of my old faves, and they did a six song new "mini rock opera" that was fantastic; sounded like new old Who tunes. My wife loved it. Got to hear them do Baba 'O Reily, Won't Get Fooled Again, Behind Blue Eyes, Tommy (much of that rock opera - the encore), Who Are You....fantastic...!!! Ended the show and the encore with Daltry and Townsend doing an acoustic version of "Tea and Theatre"...more or less a tribute to the previous members of the band. All in all....an amazing night of music.

She said something very interesting; we saw the Stones last year when they came through, which was and probably is her favorite band. On the way out to the car, she commented "...the Stones are good, a party band, but these guys were musicians...". Couldn't have said it better myself.

Glad I went - something to remember, to be sure.

I had been thinking about seeing The Who at Mohegan Sun in CT, but the prices are very lofty. :0 I may need to reconsider.

What CasaSoho said, 'cept I'm not reconsidering much...those prices are outrageous.

I paid in that range to see Cream last year, but that was a once in a generation thing.

By all means, if you liked the show that much you can own in on DVD and CD.

I'm front row center (at Townshend's feet!) on December 4th in Toronto and can't wait. I'm looking forward to a new Who offering on October 31st (their first release since 1982's Its Hard) and it will be only the second (and probably last) Who lp that I bought as it hit the stands.

This band means a lot to me (as should be obvious in my avatar, etc...) and to see them touring behind a new lp is tantamount to ecstacy!

The tour has been a barnstormer, starting in Europe in June and continuing throughout February of next year. Roger's vocals (and rotator cuff) have been giving him troubles, but the fact that the both of them are soldiering on and still giving it their all, right from the heart, does this Who fan nothing but proud!

....umm...Queen had Freddy Mercury as its volcalist. The Who has had Roger Daltry from the get go....??

....barely.. :laugh: Pretty funny - about 2/3 through of the way though the show, Townsend would run back and turn up his amps every two or three songs. We brought earplugs for just such an occurance. By the end of the show, it was LOUD. But, after all, this is the band that (to my knowledge) still holds the record for the loudest concert ever.

Still blown away; it was a great show and I got to see some of my all time favorite songs performed by the original artist. Very cool.... :cool:

I might be getting hooked up with this show when they come to Denver though. My contact got me tix to the Petty show on the floor for $60, such an amazing show.

Interesting - we had "tier two" tickets (right off the floor) and paid $97.00 each for 'em....great seats.

I really like The Who and live in oregon but just didn't want to pay that much to see them. Glad you had a good time though. Sounds like a great set of songs too.
 
I saw them in 1983...They packed more energy in that show than you could comprehend. :thumbs:
