New Favorite Cigar Pairing

A few months ago I came to the conclusion that the best drink to go with a cigar for me is good old fashioned H2O. Basically I found myself overwhelmed by flavors if I tried to drink bourbon, beer, or coffee. Well last night we were over at a friend’s house and the guys were out on the deck smoking. Right about the time we lit up cigar number two my buddy asks if I would like some port. In the past I have never really liked port as I don't like anything that sweet, but I thought what the hell and long story short I have a new favorite drink to pair with my cigars.

What is your favorite port or beverage to enjoy with a smoke?

About 50% the time it's a big glass of ice water. We have a filter installed for our drinking water and it really tastes good. Pairs well with a cigar when I want to really taste and enjoy the cigar.

About 40% of the time, it's scotch or bourbon as the mood hits me, neat. The contrast between the cigar and the liquor is usually very interesting and lets me enjoy the flavors of both.

Every now and then, usually after a fine dinner, I've been known to enjoy a nice Cabernet with a smoke. That often pairs remarkably well.

And, then, there's Sunday morning. Every Sunday AM, the wife is off to work, and it's just me and the little dogs. Some time ago, I started having early AM coffee and a cigar on the deck, and watching the sun come up. I really look forward to this quiet, peaceful time outside and now with the temps cooling off, a cup of fresh ground, black coffee and a great smoke really make for a fantastic start to the day.

Sunday mornings get NO better than that right there!!! My Sunday ritual as well bro!!! :thumbs:
 
In the morning it is coffee thats everyday. On ocassional evenings it is a Tanqueray martini up with an olive.
 
Cohiba Robusto and a nice Port in the evening on the deck, cup of Killer Beans and a RASS on Sunday mornings with the paper.

How can you beat either of those combinations ;)
