Clueless Girlfriend needs help

Any Padron bought at the last minute would be appreciated by a guy who smokes, especially coming from his girl friend. Your neighborhood tobacco store should have at least a couple of boxes of padrons on hand, and they are reasonably priced. Look for the MADUROS. hOPE THIS HELPS! :D

I agree on sneaking a peak in the humi! Great way to find out what he likes.

I'm speechless. And I agree - just print off these pages, and hand them to him. Be like, pick a box, any box.

Most girls aren't "INTO" cigars let alone willing to go the exra mile to get them the kind they actually want.

KUDOS!

The price really doesn't matter all that much. He's difficult to buy for and he likes this so I don't mind spending the money. I got him his first humidor (sp?) for christmas last year- smallish but fits his smoking habits. The Opux X I think he would definatly like. He likes them with a full body but not too harsh. Think Punch.

Fenian' 98, no I'm not Lauren, but my boyfriend does come on to this site so unfortuantly, I won't be submitting a "cigar girl" picture until after the holidays lest he stumble across this thread and ruin my sneakyness.

Ok, it's a deal. :p

But seriously. You can't go wrong picking him up some Opus or Anejo or Ashton VSG/ESG, etc.

Like you, my wife often does this type of thing for me.

He is a lucky man, to have someone think about what makes him happy. Most suggestions listed above would be greatly appreciated.

Good Luck,

Ken

Well opus and anjeo’s are always wonderful cigars but they can also be hard to come by. Here’s some other options for you:

The cigars I’ve gotten the most compliments about are:
Tatuaje – I have yet to have a bad one, my favorite is still the Regios.
Ashton VSG - A powerful and intoxicating flavor with a complex rich finish
La Aurora Preferido Maduro – Very distinct taste and full flavor while remaining smooth.
La Aurora 100 Anos - The smoke is smooth, bold, and very well-balanced.
Gurkha Legend - hearty flavors that build on you through out the cigar.
Diamond Crown Maximus – A full-bodied sweeter tasting cigar.
Punch Gran Puro – Full bodied and completely different from the normal punch line.

(I did barrow a few of the descriptions)

^^^ go into any shop and buy from that list and you should be loved for life!

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone! I'm going to start with these suggestions most definatly. What does everyone think about storing the cigars in one of those humidor bags? I thought it might be a way to space out the purchases while still making sure the cigars stay well hydrated. (Besides, I don't live in a city that has a tabacco store that would allow me to store purchases for long periods of time.) But I've heard you have to be careful and that a lot of them are crap. Any thoughts? I wouldn't want to wreck a 25$ cigar by keeping it incorrectly, ya know?

Beat me too it, what he said ^^^^

My buddy is building a humidor for himself right now and I picked him up one of those bags to tide him over in the meantime. He says it is working great, just make sure you get the right size for your needs

I'm the girlfriend of a cigar fan. I'm looking for an intresting gift for christmas, but since I know very little about cigars- it would be way too obvious for me to simply...you know...ask him what he thinks is an intresting cigar and/or cigar accompaniment. I've done the whole cigar in the stocking thing and this year I'm aiming a little higher. I love him dearly and want him to have a very merry, er, cigarry christmas. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.
That is just freakin awesome!! Nice move!

My vote: Get him a Palio cutter. Even if he has one, you can't go wrong with them.

If you want to go with cigars .... figure out what you want to spend, and I'll hook you up. That way they can sit in a nice environment until you are ready, and I'm sure your Beau will be very happy.

Just a couple options.

You know this is the best option right here.

This entire thread is why I joined this forum after browsing it for a few weeks. Great job to everyone here, helping someone out with cigars, and a place to get great deals and people here are just helping each other out.

Right now I'm on my porch smoking a $2 826 and just enjoying reading this after a long week at work (taking tomorrow off :)!)

Those humidibags work great. I used them out here in Iraq and they do the trick.

I would say.... I will say....

imo, don't buy him cigars because he might have very particular tastes, and a person's taste will change over time, as well as vary greatly from one cigar to another. Taking a peak inside his humidor and seeing what brands/types he has inside might give an inaccurate impression on his tastes. Such as if he has 10 10 padrons and 2 CAO Golds in there, you might think that he loves the padrons more because he has a full stock of them rather than the Golds, but it might be he loves the Golds more because he smokes them more often (thus only 2 left in the box).

Rather getting something more practical that he can enjoy his cigars with is a better idea, such as a bigger humidor, a nice recliner to smoke in, a palio cutter like Blue Dragon suggested, maybe some humidification beads/the puck to help keep his cigars in prime smoking shape. hope this helps.

By the sounds of it he is a relatively new smoker. Trying a wide variety of smokes is a great way for a new smoker to become experienced.

And really, it is the though that counts...if my g/f bought me cigars for xmas, it really wouldn't matter what the hell they are.

If you go sampler because he is relatively new to cigars, go buy him a newbie sampler from the thread, he will get quite a nice selection.
