I'm going to be in Miami this week and I would like some suggestions of a good B&M to visit. Anybody got a favorite place or a smoke I should try while I'm here? Thanks Ernest

Funny I always drive by that area and never noticed a cigar store....is it on the corner where the Citco gas station on Sunset is or is the cigar store located in that little mall where the sub shop and sports bar are located??

Hmmm... I just might be over on that coast for New Years. Got some friends coming down and the want to go to Miami so for the hour drive we might as well.

A MUST stop is at El Credito 1106 SW 8th Street, Miami to see them rolling the La Gloria Cubana "Miamis". You will get to walk and talk in the little factoria they have but be warned most of the rollers speak little to no English. They are VERY nice and will try to answer questions in English if you are patient. Very good folks. Still it is a MUST see place. Ask the girl at the retail store if they have any El Credito Super Magnums in the back. These are the seconds of the La Gloria Cubana Serie R and are every bit as good as the first quality cigars. You have to ask for these as they are not kept up front. As well, stop in at Cafe' Versailles 3555 SW 8th Street, Miami for some authentic Cuban food. I recommend the Pork Chunks with rice and black beans. Order the side of either Tostones or Maduros. The Plaintain soup is not to be missed either. Finish off with Flan, a Cafe' Cubano and a cigar outside. Across the street from Versailles is Macabi Cigars. Worth of a stop for the stroll to burn off the meal but not worth going out of your way for.

In the Bal Harbour area of northern Miami Beach is Mikes Cigars. I love the place and would recommend a visit but some find it pricey. Perdomo is right off the Palmetto expressway and worthy of a visit but do not get lost in the area as some bad things have happened to tourists who find their way into nearby Opa Locka.

By the way I spend quite a bit of time in Little Havana. The area is a "transitional area" meaning that there are quite a few unpleasant folks around. THE VAST majority of people in Little Havana are great, hard working people but be wary of the nut cases. I carry a SIG-Sauer P220 on me when I am out of the car on Calle' Ocho but you might be less paranoid that I am! Some more places to look into in the Little Havana area

1. El Rey De La Frita for the best Cubano style hamburgers you will ever have north of Havana. This is at the end of the block (west) from El Credito

2. Antonio Maceo Parque also know as Domino Park. This is a place to people watch. If asked to join in on a domino game you are being granted a big honor...by all means join in!

3. Brigade 2506 Museum. The official museum to the Cuban Patriots who fought to free their beloved island from Castro at the Bay of Pigs and were left to die on the beaches by the United States President. A VERY balanced museum and good folks there.

Directions to all these places can be found online. With the exception of Mikes Cigars and Perdomos all the places I have mentioned are in the same general area of Little Havana...some within walking distance. Personally I would not walk it unless you are packing heat or good with your hands but that is just ME.

Come now it's not that bad to carry a gun.... I walk through that area all the time, then again I do fit the typical Latino look, that and I carry my own weight with a look of don't f&%#* with me :0 :D

I tend to attract lunatics and psychos and you have to admit Little Havana is the Promised Land for for the loco! I guess one pays your admission and one takes their chances. If you live in Miami you KNOW how weird Little Havana can get at times. Although I do have to admit that it is heads and shoulders better than it was 10 years ago and it does seem to be getting better quickly.

I thought I would add in the general area of Perdomo Cigars is a retailer called Cigars of The World that are quite nice and worth a visit. They are located off Red Road a mile or so south of the Palmetto Expressway.
