Yeah, they did the proper technique and snapped his neck. I was really surprised they didn't do the short rope...all the Nuremburg-sentanced Nazis took 20-30 minutes to strangle to death.

In the 1800's, an equation was developed for computing the rope length to be used based on a person's build, body weight, age, etc.
Too short, they hang there forever kicking and choking to death.
Too long a rope, the f*ckin' head snaps off!
Saddam's rope length was just right...snapped the neck as soon as the rope reached it's end. Instant death.
And yes, death by firing squad is an honorable death. Around the world, hanging is the death reserved for common criminals and traitors. And I'm sure the symbolism wasn't lost upon Saddam or his executioners.

It's not political, there has been no talk in this thread about any parties, parties views on the hanging or Saddam, no arguing, no banter from any political affiliation. The link posted is simply information on what may be the biggest story of the year, as I mentioned in the original topic post, watch it if you want, or don't. If I didn't post it, someone else would've, that's an absolute given. I say all this with the utmost respect to you BBS, and my last post was in no disrespect to you either. As you stated your opinion, I'm doing the same. If Rod feels this thread crossed the line, I'll certainly accept a suspension or ban, however I certainly don't think that either are warranted.

Look it is a little late to complain about "non-cgar" topics here in the lobby I would say. Also, the title to the thread absolutely clarifies the topic and if you find this offensive or inappropriate you simply do not open the thread or click the link. BBS there is really no need to jump on Wade here as I see it. So many other posts not related to cigars throughout the Lobby why pick on this one? No ban/suspension for Wade as I see it . . . the thread has been active afor a couple days now why the fuss now?

I have to tell you that I have mixed feelings about him being hanged. A part of me wanted to keep him alive and in one of those jails for life that he put so many of his fellow citizens in. Unfortunately, he probably would have gotten out. I was there when my unit, 502ns Infantry of the 101st Airborne Division took out his sons in a firefight in Mosul Iraq in 2003. It was a pleasure to take them out and most of the building there were holed up in. They shot us we shot back and were more successful.
There is no easy solution to what should be done with people like Saadam. Killing them seems just too an easy way to go with them. I wish there was another way to preserve them in life so they can relive the evil that they done to so many. But then again, it is just my opinion and there are sometimes there are too many of them in the world. May his death help save those still in the battlefield. HOOOOAAAHHH!!
