Remember what life was like in 1957? They buried a car in Tulsa and now for the 50th anniversary they are about to unbury it!! Buried Car

Whoever in 1957 guessed closest to the 2007 population of Tulsa gets the car.Good read. I didn't catch how they intend to dispose of it.

...the Plymouth was chosen because it was "an advanced product of American industrial ingenuity with the kind of lasting appeal that will still be in style 50 years from now."
umm that was 50 years ago... wont alot of people be erm passed on by now?
The car was seen as a method of acquainting twenty-first century citizens with a suitable representation of 1957 civilization
The contents of a women's purse, including bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes and an unpaid parking ticket, were added to the glove compartment of the car shortly before burial.

My dad remembers when they buried it. I don't think he submitted a guess, though.
ya, as opposed to "digging it up", or "extract from the ground"Yes, we are about to "unbury it".
That's a damned shame. They obviously didn't consult an engineer before chosing the capsule site. I can just see someone handing the winner a bill.
The Oklahoma Centennial Commission will have a trust company speak with the Humbertson family about the family's wishes for the car, centennial events co-chairwoman Sharon King Davis said Saturday.
