If you can see it from where you are this is worth checking out.
"When the sun sets tonight, go outside and look west. You'll see two planets beaming through the glow of sunset: Venus and Mercury. This is a great week to see the two planets together. Mercury reaches its maximum elongation (apparent distance) from the sun on Wednesday, Feb. 7th, making it unusually easy to see and a charming companion for always-bright Venus." Enjoy!! :cool:
 
Also tonight, at 7:47, the Hubble Space Telescope will rise in the west and move almost directly overhead, then disappear as it continues east. It'll be as bright as Sirius or maybe Venus.

Tonight at 7:47 I expect to be halfway through a Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 6x60. If you look close enough there will also be a cup of hot Folgers coffee with some milk and no sugar.
 
Not to pick a geeky nit...but this isn't exactly a case of "The Planets are Aligning", which is what people usually say when describing a conjunction. But what the hell...it's as good an excuse as any to go outside, look up, and light one up.
 
Too much light poulution here. Going to VT. tomorrow. Not a problem there.
