Anyone Collect Crystals, Gems, or Rocks!

I am not a collector, but I have spent most of my life around rocks and minerals and have an interest in them.

My father was a rock hound before he died and all those days of searching the hills for treasure kinda rubbed off on me. Done some prospecting and fossil hunting every now and then and have owned a couple mining claims in the past. There are some coal beds up here that are great for finding fossilized plants as well as a few areas that are good for fish and such. Then you have the mammoth tusks that can be found farther north.

I have rocks in my head....... (and diamonds on the souls of my shoes...)

I love the stuff. If you ever come accross one of those tusks I would be willing to trade you some Opus Xs, ISOMs, and some Tatuaje for it!! Could you imagine having one of them? The oldest fossil I own is a Buffalo tooth from Montana Blackfoot country. It is about 700 years old. For me, it makes me feel connected to the past.

Somewhere I have an old trilobyte(sp?) fossil that I found as a kid. It's about 3/4 of the entire fossil, as the rock itself was broke.

I'm not a collector but I did take up lapidary as a hobby for a while, oh so many years ago. Maybe I'll take it up again one day. I'd also like to do a little fossil hunting.
