My wife suprised me by picking me up at work early today. She had our bags packed and said we were going out for the night. Cool! We drive out to the Marriot hotel within a stones throw from Dulles International Airport. Odd, I thought to myself as we were checking in.
Well we went to dinner and during drinks she pulls this folder out of her bag and hands me our airline tickets. Turns out that she booked us a weekend in New York City. She's planned an all about me weekend with our first stop at Barclay Rex and then off to Davidoff's. Then she booked reservations at some cigar friendly establishment for dinner. After that......... Club Macanudo for a nightcap and a smoke.
Stuff like this never happens to me. Man, is she ever a keeper. I hope I never do anything to mess this up.......Lucky to be married to my best friend.

Anyone on this forum live in the area for an impromptu HERF? Hope it's not too stuffy there, not sure what to expect. I will follow up with pictures.

Sounds like the trip will be a blast. She definitely sounds like a keeper

Ok, first off, congratulations on a great find.

Secondly, glad to see you are coming to town. I have work tomorrow, but I'll be glad to smoke with you, just tell us when.

The Barclay Rex on 51st and Lexington has a great selection at fair prices (They also have a lounge). The one near Grand Central is very small, and low on stock. Haven't visited the other two locations yet.

The Davidoff at Columbus circle has a lounge, but you have to spend atleast $10 on cigars to use it. Nice selection there as well. The Davidoff at 54th and Madison Ave. Has a wider selection compared to Columbus, but its lounge is "off limits" but has two leather chairs in the middle of the showroom plus an Ashtray.

edit - after reading AllofUs123's post, common sense broke through to me.

Are you nuts? Don't think for a second its all about you.... don't waste your time with the mo's around here and make sure that wife knows how special she is. I'd advise having a surprise planned for her as well on your weekend. Flowers delivered while dining is always nice.

You're a lucky man to have such a wife...make sure she knows you know.

I agree 100%
Hope you both have a real good time.
Take heaps of photos and post them so that someone who will never get there (me) can see what the cigar spots are like :D
PS: If she ever gets you both tickets to Aussie let me know.

Damn bro, she does sounds awesome, lucky you...... Allofus is right, forget us in the city and spend time with her....

If you have the time:.... take her down to SoHo (lower Manhattan, stands for South of Houston) great shopping area and you can also visit an older cigar store....

Pizza..... best pizza in NYC... Patsy's.... been there since 1930 something. On 1 Ave & E 117 St.... there are some other "Patsy" pizza places but they are no realtion to the original

Dude, you have to coolest wife ever! That is freaking awesome what she is doing for you. Make sure she knows that! Wow!

The key words...'best friend'. She's definitely one. Have a great time.

My girlfriend is my best friend and I wouldn't put it past her to be creative and spontaneous as that...I miss Nu Yawk.

Edit: Oh yeah, have a great time, and you do have a cool wife for doing that.

I am also fortunate my wife also supports my cigar smoking, matter of fact we went to the local lounge last night and had a blast. I agree that you are lucky enjoy the experience, I also agree with some of the others here. Although I am sure your wife expects nothing in return, you better be ready with a great comeback.

Dave,
Went to Davidoff at 54th first. James there really hooked me up. first he hands me a Davidoff Mill. Petit Corona and says here try this (free). Man what a powerful little thing, almost as bad as a Power ranger strength wise. Then after he pointed out a bunch of hard to get "special made for Davidoff cigars" that I bought. He most likely gave me about $150. free in cigars. Then he offered to ship them and take care of it all. Then it was off to Barclay and Rex @ 51st. and Kevin gave me a Don Pepin to smoke in the lounge while my wife went looking for a pair of shoes. Legs were a little shaky when I left there. Got a buttload of cigars between the two. Were off to dinner with Reservations at 6:30. So, if you can make it to Club Macanudo (or anyone reading this)....I imagine my wife and I will be there around 9:00 tonight. I'm a big guy around 240 6"4", shaved head, and a goatee. Will be wearing black slacks and shirt and tie. My wife short blond hair and a British accent. Hope to see you or anyone else there. Having an awesome time.
