You're right. I looked at the plastic baggie and it reads #7. I also did a search for the AF Hemmy Classic and that is what I have. I do remember signing the #7 as a take on the pass list. At least I did something right....who knows what I was thinking? Thanks for letting me know so we can clear it up.

you'll beat me out there by a few! i'm leaving columbus about 5... and heading to chippewa, pa for friday. then back to boardman (youngstown) sat.

where are you heading jeff?

Generally speaking, all of the above. Pretty confusing ehhh? Your goal as a passer should be to make the pass better. In this example, a $9 Red Dot for a $9 Opus doesn't make the pass any better. Ultimately, it is up to the pass host. The host "should" stipulate wether it is MSRP for MSRP, ISOM for ISOM, Rareity for Rareity, all of the above, what ever he/she decides. As long as he is consistent through out. Over time making the call becomes easier. If you stick to the addage, make the pass better, then you will be doing good.

Emo

This is a good point and I haven't read every post since this one but I would have to think that MSRP has to have little bearing. For example, Gurkha MSRP is usually about 500% - 700% what you can buy them for every day. So if I put $100 worth of Gurkha at MSRP and took $50 worth of OpusX or VSG I would be raping the pass, right?

Get ready George!

Let me work on this bad boy, and try and get it out shortly! Everything looks good!! Nice packing job  (although this is one a MASSIVE box!!!)

EDITED TO ADD:

Okay - rolled around on the floor with all the cigars - drooled all over them - and put them back... Here's my puts/takes:

Takes:

23. Double Ligero Lancero
43. Opus X #5
53. Opus xXx (Power Ranger)
58. RP 1990 Perfecto (look VERY intersting)

Puts:

NOTE: I'm only adding values and rarity to assist everyone in assessing puts/takes later.

63. Work of Art Maduro - Value: ~ $8 (fairly rare)
64. AF Between the Lines (2004) - Value: ~$15 (rare)
65. Avo LE07 - Value: ~ $13 (available now, but soon to be rare) - this is a VERY nice cigar
66. El Rey del Mundo (ERDM) - Choix Supreme: Value ~$10 (has some nice age on it '90 or '91, I believe - box code: USU VC2)
67. Davidoff Special 'R' - Value: ~$13
68. Saint Luis Rey (SLR) - Serie A ISOM - Value: ~$9 (2006)

Heads up, garrettbuckeye - hopefully you're not hungover when you get this... :whistling: :D

Jeff does that help out any.

I really like the part about make the PASS BETTER. :whistling:

Your PM helped me but maybe you should express that here for all to benefit from. And maybe we could get some FOG's to share their thoughts on this issue..................that is if there are any left who are still up and about following the recent bombings!

If you put $100 worth of Gurkha, and took $50 worth of Opus - that would be raping that pass. Gurkha is easy to find - Opus "not so much".

And it really should be comparable. i.e. - Gurkha for Cohiba Red Dots, and Davidoff for Opus. Gurkha's an awfully nice cigar, but it's not the same rarity as Opus. Davidoff is a tad bit harder to find, and are on the higher end.

Actually, to be honest - I have quite a few Opus' laying around. I like having one here and there - but I primarily keep 'em around to pass to others. Same with Anejo's - and a couple of other like cigars... Nothing feels better than handing one off to someone that has never had one before and is dying to try it...

It's not about raiding the pass (I've seen that done more than a few times). That really does speak about your character. On other boards I've witnessed people putting 10 sticks in, and taking 5 out thinking they're doing everyone a huge favor. They put in Perdomo, Padron 1000 series, Sancho Panza's, RP Edge's etc. and taking out Opus, Padron '64 & 26's, Ashton VSG's, etc. No doubt decent puts - but that trade is quite a bit lopsided.

But - what comes around, goes around. If it's about getting really hard to find cigars and cleaning out the humi of the smokes you really don't like - others will notice. If it's about what Emo says - "making the pass better" - well... If there's a smoke you truly are dying to try - stick around and be fair in your trades - it'll come once you establish your reputation... :whistling:

Now - if you're REALLY being a good guy - you'd trade Opus' for Gurkha's! :D

Edited to add:

BTW - I'm smoking the LFD Lancero as we speak. Interesting cigar!!!

Well put....Thanks!

And I will gladly trade Gurkha for OpusX ;)

Also - if you REALLY want to put your finger on the pulse of rarity - watch to auctions at Cbid. :whistling:

Gurkha's tend to sell for far less than retail at auction. And you see what happens when they offer up Opus, Padron 26's, etc... You also RARELY see people begging for Gurkha's here (well... except maybe AVB - I betcha he'd trade off his Opus' for Gurkha's) :D

BTW - I'm not taking any heat for my puts/takes, so I gotta think they passed muster??? :whistling:

Didn't you already ship it, regardless? I was going to comment on the ISOM. I'm sure yours is reputable, but the rules said to leave 'em out... up to the pass owner, I guess. :)

Missed that... but you can always pretend they're not, and trade something nice for 'em... :whistling:

Nothing fanstastic, but then again, I did put in some pretty hard to find stuff too... What are we going to do about that. ???

I'd say just stay with something on the nicer side of fair is all... Up to the pass owner, I guess. ;)
