Ten Politically Incorrect Truths About Human Nature

Alternatively, men may prefer women with large breasts for the same reason they prefer women with small waists. A new study of Polish women shows that women with large breasts and tight waists have the greatest fecundity, indicated by their levels of two reproductive hormones (estradiol and progesterone).

Michal - I'm moving to Poland soon.

Also - that suicide bomber being Muslim thing is incorrect. Only certain populations of Muslims practice polygyny, typically what the media here would call 'fundamentalist' groups, or otherwise, orthodox. The large majority of suicide bombers come from 1) a nationality, not a sect of a religion and 2) a nationality that, historically and today, has been the most secular, ie. not fundamentalist, of Muslim nation groups. Palestinians do not allow polygyny, much like modern day Christians don't even though there is some textual approval of the practice in the Bible. So, how would the practice of polygyny to create 'surplus males' have any application on any cases of suicide bombing in Israel?

I think there's a better explaination - brainwashing (oh, and living in a de facto outdoor prison).

"Studies demonstrate unequivocally that men are far more interested in short-term casual sex than women. In one now-classic study, 75 percent of undergraduate men approached by an attractive female stranger agreed to have sex with her; none of the women approached by an attractive male stranger did. Many men who would not date the stranger nonetheless agreed to have sex with her."

Where were these studies when I was an undergrad???

LOL I am sure they did not actually get to have sex. Which brings us to a whole other interesting dialog:

attractive female stranger: Hey fella, want ot have sex with me?

undergraduate man: You bet lets go!

attractive female stranger: Great! Thanks for your response. See ya.

undergraduate man: What?

attractive female stranger: Oh, I was just conducting a study to see how many guys would agree to have sex with me. Thanks again for your response. Have a nice day.

undergraduate man: So, are we going to go have sex or what?

attractive female stranger: No. Like I said, I was just conducting a study.

undergraduate man: What? You asked if I wanted to have sex. Lets go baby!

attractive female stranger: Look creep, I don't want to have sex with you, it was just a study. Now get lost.

undergraduate man: Bitch!

Thanks for the great read. It's nice to know that there are people that think outside the norm. As for the studies, note that she cited only one person's research when she mentioned a study. These may very well be reproduce-able, but we don't know that without the ability to check the work. Her thinking is very interesting, and is food for thought.

Sorta... my wife is from Malaysia, which is a very modern, moderate Islamic nation. The way it works there is not if you're fundamentalist you have more than one wife, it's if you have the money to support more than one wife. The Sultans of various states, for instance, all have more than one wife.

Ditto with many doctors, lawyers, and other well off individuals. My understanding is that the religion allows it, and cultural norms mitigate it, but the biggest factor is having the money to be able to afford multiple wives.

Well - I was generalizing, the Palestine (or Jordan) born folks I know do not endorse polygamy (nor do their family back home). I'm also not aware of any big time Palestinean leaders who had multiple wives in the last 30 or so years. so maybe it's a culture and not religion thing - I'm not expert on any religions.

It really doesn't change anything though - what I take to be pretty sure knowledge that Palestineans (at least the ones I know and their families) do not practice polygamy, yet, the majority of suicide bombers have been Palestineans in Israel. Basically, there aren't suicide bombers because there are 'suprlus males', there are suicide bombers for much different reasons.

Come to think of it, I had dinner last night with a friend of mine who happens to be Muslim, and one of his comments to me was that "In Islam, I'm allowed to have more than one wife" (then he later went on to say that he'd rather shoot himself, he doesn't need more than one headache).

So I think the article is correct in stating that Islam allows for polygamy.

As for the rest of the assertions that follow, I'm not defending/addressing those. I'm quite sure the issue is a bit more complex than is stated there.
