I dunno about this. It might be a good thing for the so-called "owners". But can you imagine what these dogs must feel like being passed around like that? Not a good thing for their overall health (mental or physical) IMO...

Yupp, if people/kids want to spend time with animals and don't want to own one. They can go down to there local animal shelter. You can walk em and play with them all day and your part of something.
It seems like they are taking steps to make sure the dogs stay physically safe. They have a collar that measures the dogs surroundings to make sure it stays in a predetermined range of temperature. But who wants to pay to take care of a dog for a few days? Thats like something you do when you're 12 for your 80 year old neighbor who goes on vacation for a week and gives you 5 dollars a day.
Dogs need a pack. They need to bond to a strong Alpha (or be that strong Alpha), and that structure is how they relate to the world. It is built into them, and not even many hundred of generations of human breeding and meddling has stripped them of this need. Some are more in need of it than others, true, but it is as close to universal as anything I know in the anuimal kingdom.
To loan them out to people who will not be that Alpha for them is, IMHO, close to mistreatment.
There's a LOT more to keeping a dog safe than temperature, though. Not having developed a long-term bond with a dog, one wouldn't know if it is OK with an open door, or if it needs to be kept an extra-close eye on, if it is OK with kids, with cats, etc. I'm sure they screen all that stuff...but still, an animal isn't an accesory or a rental toy.

Agee 100% and never could of said it without cussing. This concept is pathetic on so many levels. I'v got to write these clowns an e-mail.... this pisses me off.
I encourage others to write them.
